I’m having a lot of trouble choosing my wedding colours!
A little background…our wedding is at the end of September in a century old mansion on the beaches of prince edward island. I love the vintage/antique feel of the place and like to incorporate this into my personal style.
My groom has a classic burberry tie that he is going to wear (red, beige, black check) and my dress is an all over gold embroidery over lace (very antiquey looking). This has posed a bit of a problem because colours don’t go very well with my dress!
Originally I was going to go with brown for the bridesmaids but I’m not drawn to any of the shades…they all look a little blah. Not to mention how difficult it is to find flowers that match with everything. I thought about white flowers but with my dress not being traditional white, I think it may look weird.
Anyways, I’ve been drawn to this dress for the bridesmaids:
My concern is – Do you think it will look to Christmas-y??
I love green and I think it will go great with my dress but I’m worried about the red in my groom’s tie.
I was thinking if I did flowers like this – it could look like a vintage garden effect. I also love white hydrangeas for the reception decor!
What do you think??? Any advice?

YAY! PEI! (I’m in NB)
That colour is very similar to what we are going with. I love it, it will look classic, and I don’t think that shade will look dated in pictures as quickly as some of the florescents that are in right now. It really will look gorgeous with that colour scheme of flowers you’re looking at. Plus the colour on the island are gorgeous with the red dirt. I’m excited just thinking about it!
I’m also doing hydrangeas. Like this in mason jars:

I don’t think it would be too Christmas-ish, I know the color is called Kiwi, but it seems very muted – almost like the artichoke in the flower arrangement you posted.
I think if you did flowers that were mostly whites/ivories and pale greens with accents of another color, maybe even a pale pink it would look more vintage and less Christmas.
If the only red is in his tie, I wouldn’t worry too much about it – people will be looking at the overall ‘feel’ of the day and not so much how you all look lined up next to each other and behind the flower arrangements.
🙂 Your venue sounds lovely!

I’m going with red roses, and worried about looking Christmassy, but my BMs are going to have ivory gerbera daisies. (Their dresses are darker and mossy looking, since I couldn’t get that colour in the material I wanted.) I’m not sure about the tie with the pinks, but a florist will be about to work with shades, etc..
In case you’re curious, this is my dress colour: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b63/canadianmaple/P1291221.jpg

No it doesn’t look too much like christmas to me. You could also have them in black dresses and just do your accent colors in the flowers.
