Have you looked on I’m finding that quite helpful for trying to nail down our colours. A friend of mine used different shades of purple in her wedding and I think it worked out because she used graduated shades (light, slightly darker, medium then slightly darker again) so it flowed nicely.

My colors were plum for the bridesmaids dresses because davids bridal didn’t have eggplant and plum was the closest in color to eggplant..I used eggplant purple and ivory..It went beautifully can use plum with gold, champaigne and even silver.

Hi there! We used shades of purple with gold metallic accents (and cream and charcoal) for our wedding last June. The PP who said that gradations help is correct, but purples are so pretty that you have a lot of leeway! It helped me to choose a dominant purple, which in my case was eggplant — and so then we were working with mostly blue-purples, with the occasional magenta (red-purple) highlight. And also to make sure that you’re working in roughly the same saturation/intensity of color — so no neon or really BRIGHT purples, in my case.

Ultimately, we put the bridesmaids in eggplant and the groomspeople in charcoal pinstripe suits with dark purple shirts and white ties (my husband’s choice). My bridesmaids’ bouquets were purple lisianthus, lavender freesia, and cream roses; my bouquet had the same flowers, but with a few Picasso calla lilies mixed in. Our centerpieces were purple hydrangea bowls. We worked in the gold mostly in details — the bridesmaids’ jewelry, frames for the seating charts, etc.

I’ll post some photos below, so you can see how it all worked together. I think it was a really fresh and romantic look — you can totally pull it off! Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you if you decide to go this way.

@sariibear:  How much light does the room get?  Do you want to go with champagne -maybe organza overlays to give it a bit more sparkle and to lighten it  up a bit?  The chandeliers look awesome.

@sariibear:  Here’s another, you could add “fig” and white or ivory in your flowers.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been pretty passionate about purple tones. Looking for a romantic color palette for your upcoming wedding or party? Why not try mixing shades of purple with shades of pink? Elegant, beautiful and absolutely unique, these are the sort of colors I love to see paired together. And I’m hoping you can see why?

I’m absolutely swept away by these beautiful images. I love the idea of pairing lovely lavender bridesmaid dresses with soft pink bouquets. Not sure how to dress the guys? I’m loving this fun and unique take on groomsmen attire! Pretty patterns add interest and it just goes to show that guys can totally pull off what some people would consider ”girly” colors. Looking for a way to incorporate a little sparkle? Glittery packages with pretty bows make for the perfect favors. So what do you think? Would you consider using a romantic palette like this?

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you might remember me mentioning that I’m a red lipstick kinda girl. Not for special occasions. Nope! I’m talking about every day. I’m not sure what it is, but I’ve always just loved that berry kissed look. Sure, light pinks and nudes can be pretty. But there is something to be said about a pop of color that I’ll always be drawn to.
I don’t know what it is, but hopefully I’m not alone? There’s just something so alluring to me about bright, bold color. And so that’s why I am totally smitten with this berry kissed look! It’s vibrant, it’s loud and they’re just the sort of colors I’d use to create something beautiful. So tell me, what do you think about these berry kissed hues?

{Shades of Purple, Gold + White}

The holidays are such a magical time. And so what better time to get married? Not engaged? Why not throw a really swanky holiday party? Whatever the reason for celebrating, one thing is for sure ~ there truly are so many ways to make a holiday inspired party come to life. And although I absolutely love the traditional red and green – there is something so fun about using non-traditional colors. Don’t you think? That’s why I really love how shades of purple marry with antique gold.

So what do you think? Are you liking the way that shades of purple mix with gold? I think it’s quite pretty. Oh, and festive too. I’ve always been smitten with the idea of having a hot cocoa bar set up for Winter weddings. I’m imagining all kinds of cocoa toppings. Like whipped cream and marshmallows. Sounds delicious does it not? So I must ask…what colors do you love most during the holidays? Have a holiday palette requests? See my request page here.

{Fig, Light Plum, Antique Gold, Ivory + White}

As we near the end of Summer, it seems to me that there are two schools of thought. Some people wouldn’t love anything more than to hold onto Summer as long as they can – and then there are others, like myself, who more than welcome the change of season and everything that comes along with it. I think Fall has some of the prettiest palettes. And this one is no exception. Here lately I’ve really been attracted to shades of purple and I especially am loving this fig color. It’s such an intense color and it really goes nicely with antique gold. {continued…}
