your wedding is first. people who go to both weddings will know that your wedding was first and it will reflect badly on them, not you. also, i wouldn’t blame fh’s friend too much…you know how little grooms are involved sometimes.

let it go!

@Mrs. Meowerson: Hear hear!

OP, I had everything planned. I was so excited about it. I thought our ideas were totally unique and fun: a food truck. Bocce ball on the lawn. Dog-friendly. A pinata (yeah, I know, we’re kind of offbeat–but that’s the point, with this post!). Crayons on the tables for people to draw with. A color palette of bright red and aqua. And then my friend decided to take our ideas and use them. But not for her wedding, for the MORNING-AFTER BRUNCH, which EVERYONE was invited to (and attended)–right down to the crayons and the foodtruck and the colors. IE, it wasn’t enough for her to have her own wedding, she had to steal our ideas for her second event to boot! AND unlike you, my wedding is after hers, so had we kept the ideas, we would have looked like copycats. Unfortunately, you cannot copyright wedding plans, so we just kind of regrouped and changed stuff around.

In YOUR situation, however, THEY will look like copycats. So I wouldn’t worry too much.

And by the way, the best way to make your wedding stand out has nothing to do with favors and flowers and crap–it has everything to do with making your guests feel well taken care of. So if you focus on ways to make the event the most hospitable and enjoyable for them, I guarantee they’ll remember your wedding fondly.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Obviously they both love your ideas! All your friends and family will know that you did it first and see where her ideas came from.

I don’t think there is one amongst us who can claim that every idea we used was original.We all steal ideas from lots of different sources.

thank goodness you are having the first wedding.  They’re just going to look goofy beings it’s obvious they can’t come up with an original idea of their own.   You know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (even though it’s annoying).

I agree, everybody will know your idea was the first idea.  I wouldn’t sweat it, and  stop  tellling everything about your wedding, so she will not find out!!

I agree with the ladies before me – it is their wedding that will obviously look like they copied yours. Your wedding is first so I wouldn’t even stress it! Take it as a compliment that you and FH planned such an awesome wedding!

no worries! your wedding is first so i wouldnt get too worked up – if anything people will wonder why they chose to do something so similar to you…now if they were copying your wedding and it was before yours i would be kind of ticked off.

love the jersey idea! im a huge CAROLINA PANTHERS fan (even though their season sucked) Fiance is a patirots fan ha. anyway as soon as i got engaged i went out and bought a Deangelo Williams jersey (Williams – my new last name)
