    A funny little story...

Last week I was at my friend's wedding. It was a regular buffet reception type wedding in Korea so there is no assigned seating.  We were saving seats for other friends when this woman sat down beside me with this plate PILED HIGH with ddok which is Korean rice cake.  She probably had enough to feed 20 people.

I was about to tell her that the seats were taken when she pulled a plastic bag out of her bag, shoved the ddok into it, and threw the bag into her purse.  She zipped away and out the door within about 15 seconds!!  Can you imagine? A few other friends saw similar situations.

It was a funny moment, but now I realize I need to be on the look out for wedding crashers at my own wedding!

OMG! That's nuts! I don't expect any unwelcome guests at our wedding because it's in a small town but WOW!

THat is awful.  I've never heard of that.  I guess I was lucky. I had a sit down.  But honestly, how could you be on the look out for that, on your own wedding day.  You have so many other things occupying your time.  That's how they get you.  I guess the best thing you can do is tell this story.  Then we all can be on the look out for potential "guests" who might do this at other people's weddings.

And thiiiiis is why you have assigned tables at the very least, if not assigned seats. We have a coworker that we sure as he** are not inviting, but we are pretty sure that even if he can't weasel his way in as a guest of another coworker, he'll show up anyway. And we fully intend to have his @$$ out the door in 20 seconds flat. He is SCUM and would stoop so low as to crash our wedding out of sheer spite. Not okay.

Wow I could see wedding crashers coming to have fun and party like in the movie, but to be that obvious and steal from somebody's wedding is a whole other level!

    Woah!!!! That's very bad!!

Well, my wedding will be in a dangerous country (yay South African crime rate *sigh*) and we will be getting married in a national monument (hopefully).  For this monument there is tight, armed security around it and also an entrance fee (which my guests don't need to pay as we're arranging that). I think my wedding will be reasonable safe from crashers.

    That's crazy...

I actually don't think I'd ever have the balls to do something like that!

Luckily to get to our ceremony & reception our guests have to give their name in order to get a gondola ride ticket. A crasher would stick out like a sore thumb at our wedding b/c during the summer everyone on the mountain is wearing hiking gear lol.

Oh my goodness, Lizaan, I have a friend whose parents live in South Africa and one day, in broad daylight, her parents were driving and they got carjacked!  So their car was stolen, but not only that, the thieves also shot their dog!  I thought it was the most ridiculous thing to happen to someone!

@pamplemousse - That's horrible! But that's REALLY not uncommon in South Africa. The stuff my relatives have gone through... I'm not even going over the stories! I'm very glad that I'm not living there anymore.

But it is a beautiful country and I wouldn't skip getting married there for anything. But security is very important.

It's really common in African and some Asian cultures. People drop in to snag free food. They do it at funerals, too.

OMG that is insane! It's horrible, but still made me laugh out loud! I mean, I just imagine myself sitting there and seeing that happen, and I don't know whether I would be more mad or more entertained hahaha. Now, if I were the bride - I would def. be more mad!! Wink
