Hey there! I'm an April 23 bride in the exact same situation! Happy with my body EXCEPT for the upper arms and back that is exposed in my strapless dress. I've been trying to hit the gym harder than usual, and this is a machine that has made my arms, back and chest feel sore....so ya know it's working!! I think it's a triceps press.

As soon as this lingering cough is gone (hopefully this weekend...already feeling better!) I'm going to start training for a 10k in May, and a half marathon in October. My wedding is in August, but I know that if I pay for the half marathon in October I will be running through the summer. This will help me shed the 10 pounds I need to lose.
I also do yoga & rock climb about once a week each. I need to hit the gym weights more. I'm signed up for a trapeze ribbon class that starts in March - all of these things will get my arms & back looking great! I'm excited!
@ms. rice crispy treat: what is a trapeze ribbon class, that sounds like fun! where will you take it?
I guess it is ski season for me too, so I am skiing 1-2 times a week. Although as the wedding gets closer I want to be careful about skiing - we don't need a bride in a cast :)
I have bought multiple Groupon and/or Living Social deals for fitness bootcamp classes and I absolutely LOVE them! I have definitely been noticing that my arms and shoulders look very toned and have been getting lots of compliments which makes me feel good. I'm also a big fan of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and Shred It with Weights DVDs. They are both pretty similar to what you'd do in a bootcamp class. I'm also training to run a ten mile race in my area, which is the weekend before my wedding. I am determined to look in better shape then I was in high school!
I am doing the Jillian Michaels dvds as well, the No More Trouble Zones has a bunch of really good circuits for your arms. Haven't seen any progress yet, but I haven't really tried. I also just use my weights to do fake punches, like pretending that I'm Rocky and I just throw really heavy 5lb weight punches. Hurts really good the next day, and its probably similar to what the shake weight does.
All of this advice is soo good! I hope something works out soon for me!
I just got a new puppy a few weeks ago....he gets me out running/walking more than I would on my own for sure! I also started doing yoga again and using all those little muscles I forgot about.
I find good old fashioned push-ups do the trick for my arms, chest and back.
My fiance is one of the most fit guys I know and dabbles in fitness training. He has been training my butt into shape in the mornings. Thighs, butt, abs and arms. It hurts and I love him less for making my body ache (lol, jk!).
Oh! and I do a LOT of lunges, squats, push ups, crunches, sit ups, stairs, planks. We also use tension bands for certain types of lunges and crunches.
oops, haha... aaaaaand medicine balls.
I do cardio kickboxing Tues and Fridays, Run M, Thur, Sat (about 15 miles/week), and water aerobics/swim laps on Thurs. I'll be upping mileage soon, as I'm running a half-marathon 2 weeks before the wedding...I'm also training for a sprint tri in June (my first tri ever) and a half two weeks later. This isn't just for the wedding, this is just a schedule I've found that I like/works and makes me feel good.
My work schedule has gotten crazy so I've actually been slacking on the gym - BUT I have 8 lb weights at home that I lift daily in the ways that I learned to do in classes at the gym. (I also walk to and from work - 20 minutes each way - so I do get regular, if not vigorous, exercise.) I do bicep curls, tricep lifts, and some other stuff that I don't know the names for. It definitely has helped my arm and shoulder tone.
I got the shake weight too!! There is a gym in the building where I work, so I go to classes 4 Xs a week for toning and cardio at home. I'm also doing the Shakeology meal replacement program for a month. As far as weight loss, I only need to lose maybe 8-10 lbs. I've had two children so toning is my main goal.
3 months to go!!!!
i get bored with following ONE workout routine so i mix it up...workout DVDs( Pure Barre, Physique 57, Jillian Michaels, P90x) and some old fashioned cardio at the gym. Sometimes I will pick a random workout from my On-Demand cable!
I just got a gym membership..so I am starting Zumba, weight lifting class and yoga class every week. Also im going to try and drink lots of water (have a glass of wine every now and then ;)). 68 days for us april 30th brides!! :)
@coloradolov: I admit it. I use the Shake Weight. I really can tell a difference in how my arms feel and look. It looks so goofy and embarrassing, but it has worked well for me so far!
@Coloradolov: I am also an April 23rd bride! Are you starting to panic yet? I have also been trying to tone my arms. I see some difference, but still have so far to go in two short months. I haven't tried the Shake Weight, but please let me know if it works. I've also done the 30-day Shred and just checked out a Bridal Bootcamp DVD from the library. It lets you select specific exercises based on your dress style. I've only done it once so far so I can't say if it works or not. I'm just trying to stay motivated to keep counting calories and exercising. Two months is so soon!
@laktolkr: I am starting to think my shake weight is working. Even if it isn't at least I think it is!
@cafegirl: I know it is coming up so soon! I think the fact that I am actually working out and not eating all the girl scout cookies my fiance bought means I might be panicking a little bit :) I really like the shakeweight so far. It is such a quick work out for your arms (6 min) that I know I can at least get that in every night if not a full work out! I know we only have 2 months left, but I know we can do it. We can do it in 60 days, right!!!
I just bought a fitness game for our xbox kinect for my more full body workouts - holy cow my thighs are so sore! I picked a but/thigh toning workout and I seriously cannot walk today. I recommend this now too - so many things to try on it and they make the workout specific to you ability. I really like it and I love having it in my living room.
I seriously doubt the shake weight is what the other person did to make her arms look amazing... she is probably doing other stuff such as dieting, weights and cardio but is ALSO doing the shake weight and attributing it to that. By itself it probably doesnt produce results.

Myself I am eating clean and doing cross fit combined with some cardio and pilates or yoga once or twice a week for brief periods (IE 30 minutes each)
@lefeymw: actually she is my friend and I know that is all she did. She she has a great body as is. She was only using it for her arms alone and they looked a lot better when I saw her than they had a few months before that. She did it twice a day.
I obviously don't think the shake weight will help me loose weight, but I can tell you it is perfect for what I want with my arms. I don't want huge ripped arms, just slight toning and definition.
I think the reviews are saying you can't get a workout or really build you arm muscle with shake weight, which I agree with. I also agree it is funny to use, like I said my fiance makes plenty of jokes - but I have a good sense of humor :)
@Coloradolov: yes, we can totally do it! We can keep each other motivated!
My wedding is in August and I started my fitness regime last week which consists of:
Working out 3 times a week gradually building up but to start with 10 - 15 mins interval training on the eliptral machine followed by 30 mins of wieghts. I enjoy the wieghts - I don't enjoy the cardio machines.
Every morning, again I plan to build it up each week but for now its 16 lunges, 10 push-ups and 20 sit-ups.
I'm a bit light on cardio / fat burning so I plan to try and add in some swimming and I've signed up to the 100 mile challenge so on non gym days I'll try and knock out a few miles, probably starting with 1 mile runs and building up from there.
I don't know if its the wedding motivation, or the fact I'm not trying to do things I don't like doing but I'm actually enjoying it.
I just started crossfit last Saturday and I'm running on my treadmill until the weather breaks and I can head outside. I'm planning to run on a relay team for the Akron Marathon about three weeks before my wedding so I'm hoping all the training will not only get me through that but make me look awesome on my wedding day. Hello strapless dress! :)

so, I just ran into another bride who's arms looked amazing. Since I have a strapless dress I want my arms to look nice and toned. So, I asked her what she had been doing and she said shake weight.
I admit I laughed quite a bit when I first saw the comercial for shake weight, but after seeing her arms (and she only used it for 1 month) I am sold. I went to bed bath and beyond and bought one. My fiance thinks I look ridiculous when I use it (you can imagine the jokes...)
Anyone else using this/used it? did it work for you?
I am generally very happy with my body but it is my wedding and a destination one, so bathing suits will be a must... I am about 2 months from our big day and I find I am cutting out the xtra cookie before bedtime and trying to drink water instead of a soda or a glass of wine. I can do it for two months! (at least that is what I am telling myself now...) I'd love to hear what other people are doing especially when it gets close to crunch time!
What other pre-wedding things are you doing to be fit/toned on your big day?
