Hooray! I have finally made my cupcake choices for our dessert table! Even though it’s a little under a year away, this is something I have been thinking about for a while. Because we are having many different sweets I wanted a couple of different cupcakes that will stand out.
I have decided on:
– Vanilla Cupcakes with Strawberry Frosting (made with Preserves) and Milk Chocolate Ganache.
– Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Mint Espresso Frosting.
– Wedding White Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream and a Strawberry French Macaron on top.
I baked a trial batch of the Vanilla ones today, and am quite happy with the results (we are having a few ‘carnival’ touches on our day)
For those of you doing cupcakes, what flavours have you decided on?

Wow are you making them yourself? That cupcake looks soooo delicious.
We didn’t do cupcakes but for our cakes we did Vanilla cake with a stawberry filling (freshly sliced in cream), vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting, and chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. We wanted to make sure to have something for everyone, and while the strawberry was our favorite and the most popular one from our baker, we knew there are some people out there who don’t like strawberries or are allergic. And chocolate was obviously a must.

@MrsNerdy: Yep, I am making them myself! I was going to attepmt to hire someone to do our Cake and Cupcakes, however I am a Cake Designer and I couldn’t justify paying for something that I can just do on my own.
Your cake flavours sound awesome! You can’t go wrong with classic Chocolate! Thankfully we have NO allergies or dietary restrictions at all, out of 150 people if you can believe it!

I don’t really have anything to contribute because I’m not planning yet, but OMG I WANT THAT CUPCAKE SO BAD! Yeah, I checked on this thread like 10 mins ago, and have been thinking of the picture since. Looks awesome!

We did Chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, black forrest, boston cream, and vanilla cake/ white icing.

It looks so tasty…
We had strawberry with cream cheese frosting and a strawberry slice on it, lemon with a lemon glaze and vanilla with regular vanilla frosting and grahmn cracker crumb on it. I LOVE cupcakes.

That cupcake looks amazing and delicious!
We are having several different flavors of cupcakes but none that sound as exotic as yours: vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, white chocolate strawberry, red velvet, peanut butter cup, pink champagne, and kahlua.

That’s adorable, well done. My FI is considering making cupcakes for our wedding. Can I ask how you will transport them, keep them from melting, and when you’ll be prepping them (frosting, etc)? We are not cake designers, but he’s artistic and we can’t justify the professional price either. I’d love to know how to pull it off.

I’m making my cupcakes too, but haven’t decided on flavors. I want something light and summery, but not lemon.

I haven’t decided between cakes or cupcakes. We’re def. going to do peanut butter chocolate and some other flavor. What ganche recipe are you using?

My cousin (who owns a baking business) is making our cupcakes. We haven’t had the chance to really think about flavors yet, but we tried some today and I really liked her chocolate with some sort of chocolate frosting ones (we were at a wedding and I only saw her briefly).

I’m making all my own – about 300! We’re having a big party to do it a few days before the wedding. A bunch of the bridesmaids and moms are going to get together. We decided on:
1. Chocolate with peanut butter frosting
2. Chocolate with mint frosting
3. Vanilla with cherry frosting
4. Vanilla with vanilla frosting
5. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
6. Lemon with raspberry frosting
