I think you’ll eventually forget that your wedding date is shared with an ex’s dating date.
But, you sure you want to keep it? You can’t change it by a weekend?

My Fiance and I picked a date without thinking about the significance of the date to other people. Turns out it is his recently separated Aunt and Uncle’s wedding date. The Aunt acted strange when we said our date as if we are jinxing ourselves by keeping that date, since she and her 20 some year marriage didnt’ work out. Lady, it didnt’ work out for reasons way beyond a date! We don’t care enough to change it. Neither one of us sees the importance of dates – the date will be special to you and your Fiance and it doesn’t have to mean anything else if you don’t want it to.

Even though I don’t live in the past it’s not something I would do. I did find it odd this summer that Darling Husband ex fiancé changed her date twice and eventually chose our exact wedding anniversary. I know dates aren’t sacred and she has a mutual friend in the circle still and knew of our wedding but it still left a sour taste in my mouth at first. We laughed about it and moved on.

@chesseplease: I happen to be getting married on my ex-fiance’s birthday, BUT it is also my deceased grandparents’ wedding anniversary. Which happened decades (obviously) before he was even thought of. I was very close to them, and my grandmother died the day before their 51st anniversary. So I’ve known for years I would like to share the anniversary with them.
In fact with ex-fiance I was going to be getting married on the same day of the week as my grandparents since the 30th didn’t fall on a weekend this year. It’s just lucky that it did in 2012.
