Weddingbee boards
OUr friend did a 5k the day of the wedding. They had the wedding at a State Park so the ran the park and then had a bbq for the reception. They had already established the 5k race a few years ago and so they just combined both for the weekend. We didn't get to go because the wedding was in Hawaii. The money they raised from the event they gave it to an orphange in Peru. The bride and groom wore superhero outfits to run in. So you could do something like that. She went as Wonderwoman and he as Superman.
I am, unfortunately, horrible uncreative (hence why I love the boards so much!). My thoughts for names are things like "Race Before the Rings" and "Race to the Alter". Hopefully someone will have a great idea!
Some friends and I ran as a centipede a couple of years ago. We were dressed as brides, attached by our "veils." The last one in our chain of 7 was a "groom." We were the Run Away Brides.
Haha...The Run Away Brides sounds fun. Well thanks for a few ideas. Some others we have though of were "Tie the Knot Trot" or "Chase to the Chapel". Though I like "Race to the Alter".
When I've raced (and done well enough to get a prize), it's generally running gear, like UnderArmor headbands, or gift certificates to a sportswear store. Even an iTunes gift card, since most people listen to music while they run. Also, sunscreen, hats, water bottles, etc are useful!
If you want to do prizes for everyone, it would be cute to do some type of post-race refuel, like apple juice or fruit snacks or bananas. Or a button to wear to the reception later! You could do a "race" picture right after, and then another with everyone all dressed up!
My family went to a wedding awhile back of a couple that was into hiking. As their wedding favors they gave away custom water bottles with a cartoon of the couple. I thought that was super cute and everyone could get one and then the winner gets a gift card to something.
I lovelove the idea of a wedding 5k! What a great way to releave stress!

So I don't know if any of you are runners out there, but my FI and I are having a 5k race on our wedding day. My MOH and her running group are setting much of it up (the insurance, timing equipment, etc), but we need ideas.
Anyone have ideas on a race name or prizes? I've thought of quite a few different names but none seem catchy enough. We could always do T-shirts, but something different would be cool too. Thanks in advance to all the creative brides out there!
