ladies, what are your opinions? what items might you need to carry on your wedding day that i'm forgetting about? i'd prefer to be clutch free if possible! won't want to be worrying about carrying the thing around all day if i don't need to.

on a seperate note, jcrew has a really cute ivory clutch on sale for 24.99 - great deal.

sorry, would paste the link but seem to be having trouble doing so.

I really hadn't planned on carrying a clutch/purse, but my mom offered the one she used (which matches my dress really well), that my grandmother had bought for my mom for her wedding.  My grandmother passed away a few years ago, so I am carrying the purse as a shout out to grandma.  I will probably put some lipstick and tissues in it.

Let's see I'll be carrying lipstick, a compact and tissues for sure but mostly I'm getting a clutch because any reason to buy a purse is a good thing! :)

I'm not a clutch type of girl.  I bought a cheapo clutch from target for $15 at some point to carry to another wedding. In the last month before our wedding, I became obsessed with finding a cool, reusable, and non-bridal clutch on etsy.  I ended up getting two (one was a gift from my sister).  I've used them several times in the last three months, and every time I carry one, it makes me think of our wedding.  If you find one you like for a modest price, I say go for it!

I don't really want to carry a clutch or purse of any kind. I figure if I ahve a clutch I'd most likely abandon it at my table the entire night like I do as a wedding guest so why bother. Yes, I'll want lip gloss but that's about all I can think of and tuxedos have plenty of pockets so I'll ask groomy for help :)

I did not choose to carry a clutch on my wedding day, but really wish I would have.  I had my MOH carry my lipstick, powder, blush, etc. for me, which was fine, but I had to track her down every time I wanted to "touch up."  She was great about it, but after dragging her off the dance floor for gloss a couple times I felt like I kept interrupting her all night.  I wish I would have had my own bag/clutch for my stuff.

I had a clutch and my friend carried it for most of the day. It was nice to have our things separately and to be able to just take the clutch at the end of the night. In retrospect, I would not have worried at all about what it looked like because I think I held is about five minutes all day. (And yes, I gave my friend a big thank you for looking after it!)

It held: lip color, lip brush, id, a bit of cash. We needed our IDs for our marriage at San Francisco City Hall.

I'm a purse girl, so I knew that I would need a cute clutch on my wedding day. I had one and used it to store my ID, lip gloss, powder, a mirror and my phone.  I have to admit, though, that I didn't actually open it once our reception got started.  In fact, I actually left it in the reception room and my brother had to run back at the end of the night to get it for me.  So much for thinking I'd need it!

I'm going to carry a wristlet that I bought for another wedding. It just happens to bw white with rhinestone flowers. I'm going to carry lipstick & gloss, powder or blotting tissues and a small vial of perfume. Anything else I might need will be in the bathroom baskets at the reception.

I didn't want to carry anything either. I bought clutches for my bridesmaids, so my MOH carried my ID and lip gloss. I was good to go!

I'm not sure if I will be carrying a clutch or not. I do love purses and any reason to get a new one is great but I'm afraid I'll just end up misplacing it somewhere during the night. I'm quite forgetful at times. But I will probably end up getting a cheap one somewhere or have my mom make me one or something just to carry all the essentials. That one from jcrew is super cute!

I'm definitely having one -- it'll be in the car during the ceremony, but I want to have something with essentials in it that is where I know where it is all the time -- and I don't have to track someone down to get it!

I've seen a couple on etsy that I absolutely covet.

I needed to carry around lip gloss, makeup touchups and a phone so I used a clutch!  If you don't mind making someone else carry your gloss, you could probably get away with not having one,

I had one but I didn't even use it! I walked in with it, set it down, and didn't think about it the rest of the night!

Although - I have a "better safe than sorry" mantra - and I'm glad I had it just in case!

I am not good at keeping up with things at all, especially on a day like that so I decided that I would get my mom to make me a garter with a lipstick pocket because I have to have something on my lips at all times-i love chapstick! I go the idea here- http://www.customweddinggarters.com/garters/30pocket_garters/400/416_pocket_blu_wht_lg.jpg

and here http://www.advantagebridal.com/prpogatohosm.html. Of course my toss garter will be smaller and more normal looking. I would just rather have everything i needed on me instead of trying to keep up with it! Hope this helps.

I love bags, but dont really want to have a clutch at my wedding. I dont want to have to worry about carrying anything around. Im usually carrying my phone everywhere with me, but i dont want it on my wedding day. Everyone important is going to already be with me! Also, I dont care to carry around makeup. I doubt ill stop to put on lip gloss in all my excitement at the reception.

I loved having mine and barely had to carry it around.  Just going into the church, leaving the church, and then entering the reception hall.  The rest of the time it was stashed by a table or on a chair.

I loved having it with me for makeup, bobby pins, safety pins, sunglasses, and other items.   Plus, I made it myself to match my overall look, so it had special meaning to me.

i would recommend having one, unless you have someone else who will be easily accessible to you and will carry items for you.  But I found that no one was really that easily accessible on the wedding day.  Anytime you try to go and find the person you need you get pulled aside by someone else trying to talk to you or take a photo with you.  So it might be easier for your sake if you can just keep the items you need in a clutch at your seat.

oh yeah, I also put my small camera in my clutch.  I pulled it out while in the limo and had the best man snap one picture of my husband and I.  It was the only photo we had of our wedding day for a couple days...  So I was glad I had brought my camera in my clutch just to capture a moment of the day.  Otherwise I would have waited for days for my family members to upload their photos, and we still haven't received our actual pro photos.

@taffy - YAY - great minds think alike - I bought my bridesmaids clutches after being a BM in a wedding and having nowhere to put anything.  My dress has pockets for the essentials (his ring, tissues, touchup lipcolor) but I'm definitely passing off blotting papers and powder to my BMs

I did think about getting one for myself but again, the dress has POCKETS so it really wasn't necessary
