I’m having a bit of a tough time choosing a vendor. I can’t find many reviews online for any places near me in the city.
I have found a few places that have people who would come to my house the day of the wedding. They charge around $60-$70 for hair. (I have not found prices for makeup yet). I like this idea as it makes my life easier that morning.
Or there’s the option of going to a salon. There may be 5 of us getting our hair done, so I’m not sure if this would be the overall easier way.
I don’t know what to do or how to decide! Do I go just by price since there aren’t many reviews anywhere online?

Get someone to come to you! It makes it so much easier since you don’t have the stress/headache of running around all morning.
Have you looked at hair/makeup people on sites like TheKnot, Project Wedding, Wedding Wire? If you find someone and they don’t have any reviews, try to find them on Facebook and look through their work.

I had people come to the venue and do our hair/makeup there (we had the venue for the whole day, so there was plenty of time). I thought it was easier than rushing all around the city… I didn’t want to have a whole lot to do on the weddin day! For five people you may want to hire two people to come, since that will halve the amount of time it takes.

@MissKit: get someone to go to you!! Find recs from friends or family.

We just did three people, but I found it a lot easier to go to the salon. The lighting and space were issues at our venue, and it was cheaper.
My regular salon is half a mile from our house and 1.5 miles from the venue, so it was no hardship. And we’d forgotten entirely about planning ahead for lunch, so it was good that we were out anyway instead of just skipping it. The Subway on the block was just fine on such a hectic day!
Obviously this varies, but my salon is great for space for people to do their makeup if they’re not getting it done professionally like I was. My sister set up her kit in front of a big mirror and went to work! I was in a wedding where the stylist came to the venue, and there was absolutely nowhere with a seat and good lighting and a mirror for me to get set up. I looked really washed out in pictures but thought I looked great in the tiny restroom mirror.

I have 5 BMs and my mom and grandmother are getting their hair done too. That being said, we opted to have the hair stylists come to my parents house to do our hair. However, even if we had a lesser amount of people, I’d probably still have them come to us. Just makes it easy and avoids rushing to get to salon, possible traffic, etc

thanks for the advice. It doesn’t seem like salons are that much cheaper. Although, it’s hard to find salons with websites. I might still call a few places though, but I’m really leaning towards having someone come to me.
I’ve looked on weddingwire and found a few places but they only had one or two reviews – if any.
It’s so difficult though!

I had my stylist come to me, and it was wonderful. Time saving, too.
