I don’t have my photos back yet, but I wore:

A pearl and CZ hair comb, made by my mum and aunt (my something new)

A pair of my paternal grandmother’s pearl earrings.  My granny died when I was 7 and my aunt gave me the earrings as a wedding gift (my something old)

My maternal grandmother’s pearls, leant to me by my aunt.  She died when my mum was a teenager, so I never got to meet her.  I was so pleased I got to wear something of each of my grandmothers’ on my wedding day (my something borrowed).  It turns out that my grandad collected them on 19 July 1963, a week before their wedding.  It should have been their 50th anniversary this weekend.

Another string of pearls around my wrist as a bracelet.  We have no idea whose they are, but they look old.  We think perhaps they were my mum’s Nanna’s.

My dress had a lot of pearl beads embellishing it, so I was really happy with how my jewellery came together and how each piece tells a little family story.

@CestTresJolie14:  Your jewellery is very sparkly!  They’ll look beautiful catching the light.

@CestTresJolie14:  I didn’t know about was my grandparents’ anniversary until my grandad told me.  He remarried when I was a baby and is very happy with my stepnan and very rarely talks about my mum’s mum, but when he does it’s obvious that he still loves her a great deal.  We chose the date because it was 10 years to the day that Mr CL and I met, as well as being 7 years to the day that we got engaged (I know, long engagement!).

My dress was chiffon, and nothing like I pictured when I first went dress shopping (I was planning to go for something very plain and simple)!  I’ll post a guest photo from facebook Smile  You can actually see most of the jewellery pretty well in this one.

I would never have thought about a handkerchief, what a lovely idea!  I hope you had a lovely birthday last weekend.  If your wedding date is 13 July, does that mean that you’ll spend your next birthday on honeymoon with your new hubby?!

@clumsylawyer:

 Thanks. The funny thing is earring number 1 and bracelet and hairclip are from the same place and supposed to go together. They are also more beautful in real life but i wasnt in love which is why i went for 2. Then when I saw 3 I fell in love, they are just so incredible 🙂

I just realised, when I said chiffon before, I meant organza.  The bridesmaids’ dresses were chiffon Smile
