I am getting my finger nails done for my wedding, but my nail lady (she does my toes) just told me that she doesn’t do gel nails (supposed to be less damage than acrylic) which is what I was planning to get she only does acrylics. I’m a little hesitant because I have worked really hard to keep my nails healthy and I like to paint them and I like them when they aren’t too short, I also don’t like how thick and fake acrylics can sometimes look (no offense, not all look like this, it depends on how they are done)… What should I do?

Do you have to get gel? A lot of higher-end salons do shellack (a harder polish that stays on for 2+ weeks)…I love doing it because it doesn’t ruin my nails, and I don’t pick at the nail polish because it doesn’t chip.
Just a suggestion!

Oh I meant to say this and forgot! I thought about doing shellack, my lady does do that, but I will be getting my nails done the day before the wedding and I will be helping set up my venue and centerpieces and such that day, so I was nervous about chipping since I haven’t used it before, but it really lasts for 2 weeks? I also want my nails to look nice for my honeymoon, but 2 weeks is a good amount of time! Have you done french tip with the shellack?

@MrsStormy: I’ve only done the color, but I’d love to see what it looks like with french tip! Honestly, I am SOOO bad at keeping up on my nails, and shellack is so great. I wash dishes, garden, clean house, etc. and it totally stays. You might as well try it out now, and then if it stands up, then get it for the wedding! 🙂

Do the shellack or the OPI Axxium. It is awesome. There’s literally no dry time, and it didn’t chip on me for OVER 3 weeks. 🙂

I would do the shellack and keep your natural nails.
