how easy / hard would it be for your caterer to serve everyone with the breaks in between? will you have to time everything to a t? we're doing it all pretty much back to back to make life easier (less time sensitive): introduction /speech, salad, entree, formal dances followed by general dancing (while i change dresses), then cake cutting and dessert / dancing.
That's exactly how my reception will be. (minus the hora) My band specializes in those type of receptions know as New York style receptions (seeing your locaiton is NYC that should work well)

Hi all,
Day-of flow is so important to me - I feel like it really does make or break a wedding. I personally have found it helpful to sit down for courses throughout the evening, so I don't get full and tired if the full dinner is served first. Here's what I'm thinking - but I would love to hear what you did or weddings you've been to that were different - or, what I'm not considering in my flow! Thank you so much.
Introductions, into first dance, into parent dance. Maybe one more dance so guests can join?
Salad+speeches from bride and groom
Hora, dancing (older songs for all guests)
Entree
Dancing (step it up a bit)
Cake cutting, dessert
Dancing (rock it out)
