We are getting married next October, and we will be doing photos after the ceremony. The ceremony location is roughly 30 minutes away from the reception location. I want it to be ceremony, photos, introduction at reception right into first dance with FH, and then dance with my dad and then dinner, speeches, cutting the cake and then dancing.
I’m so unsure of how long things take so any help is greatly appreciated!

@alysee: I’m marrying next October too!!
As far as I know, pictures take between 30 minutes to an hour… (even more if you want to go to a specific location). We will have our pictures taken at the church and at the reception venue during the cocktail hour.

Your times will be relevant to how big of an affair you are having!
We plan to do some of our pictures before the ceremony, and then some more after the ceremony during cocktail hour. We are doing some beforehand as I would like to visit people and maybe eat a few bites during cocktail hour, as well.
Are you having a cocktail hour during your photos to keep your guests busy? Even a few nibbles and drinks will help pass the time.
Introduction and first dance won’t take long at all unless you do something super elaborate [like a bridal party dance].
Speeches can be very short.. or very long depending on how many people you have giving speeches, so I would be careful with that.
The cake cutting itself doesn’t take all that long.. but serving it could take awhile. Are you serving it yourselves or having someone else take care of it?
Our wedding timeline looks something like this :
Buffet style dinner. Bar opens.
First dance/generation dance [all in one], dollar dances
Candy buffet, cigar bar & photo booth will open.
Cake cutting & serving. Garter toss/bouquet toss.
Late night snack – nacho bar!
11:00 – 11:30
