Hey all! So I would really love some help on coming up with a timeline for my wedding day. The thought of running behind is giving me anxiety at this very moment! I figured most of you are pro’s at this by now…your help is appreciated!
Here are some details: Ceremony & Reception will be held at same venue.
- Ceremony: 7:15p-7:45p
- Cocktail hour 7:45p-8:45p
- Reception 8:45p-12:45p
- I will be getting ready with my bridesmaids & mom in a hotel 2 miles away from venue
- We will be doing a first look
- We would like to take bridal party & family pics before ceremony so we don’t miss our awesome cocktail hour.
What I’m really worried about is what time should we start getting ready and what time should we be at venue for pre-ceremony pics. Thank you

Your timeline is pretty similar to mine!
We’re going 6P – 1A in the same venue and want to enjoy cocktail hour.
Per my make-up/hair stylist’s recommendation, for 7 full hair/make-ups (including mine, 4 bridesmaids, mom, and godmother) plus a make-up only (FMIL) we’re starting at 10A to be done by 3P with three stylists. From 3-5:30P we’ll be transitioning everyone to the venue and taking first look and any formal pics. I’ll be getting ready about 10 minutes away and the groom about 20 mins. This time also include buffer if we’re running behind. My groom and I will go into hiding at 5:30P when guests start arriving for the 6P ceremony.

If your ceremony starts at 7:15pm, I would consider getting ready at 2:15-3:15pm. Are you having a professional do your hair and makeup? If so I would ask them how much time they need. Mine is suppose to be 2-3 hours. Also if your dress is a corset you will need a few extra minutes for it to be laced up. How long does it take to get to the ceremony site? Depending on traffic. Also depending on what photos you want taken before the ceremony will be a factor. I would plan on at least an hour for photos. Hope this helps!
