Hi folks! So we're eloping on a Wednesday and then will be taking our few friends out for a preferably very nice dinner and were hoping for an atmosphere that has at least a little privacy if not a private room. It doesn't matter where in the city it is, just that it's in San Francisco. We were thinking some place like the Zuni Café, but it gets loud and the tables are really close together.

    Thoughts, o helpful hive?

Congrats!!  I think Masa's has a private dining room... I'm pretty sure Slanted Door and Postrio have private dining options.

congratulations! how about boulevard or farallon? or michael mina (much fancier option, though, not sure if that is what you're looking for)? so many choices! let us know which one you end up choosing.

Check out the Waterbar near the Embarcadero. Its quite a small room on the 2nd floor - and has impressive view of Bay and Bay Bridge with Private Terrace.  Great food in addition I am sure that since its a Wednesday she is willing to work and make it special and private. The room looked like it only could accomodate 32 seated tightly (4 round tables of 8) But Im sure one nice table of 6 in the middle would work.

We checked it out about a month ago.

I love Boulevard and haven't been there in ages! I'll have to check out Waterbar; I've never heard of it. Has anyone been to Bar Tartine? I don't know what the atmosphere is like.

One of the best meals I've had in the city was at Range.  Had my fancy night out with the girls when they came to SF for a visit/Bachelorette weekend.  Highly recommend it! :)

Thank you for all your recommendations! I now have a lot of new restaurants to try. I looked into a lot of them and the problem is that many of the private dining rooms have a minimum of about $1500 and are sized for much larger parties. Acquerello was our first choice and their private room has no minimum - alas, they're booked for our wedding date.

So we decided on Boulevard! They have a wine room for private parties with a $750 food and beverage minimum (pre tax-tip). It's a gorgeous art-nouveau style restaurant near the Embarcadero and the food is delicious.

oh i'm so happy for you! we thought about having our wedding at boulevard but with 60 people we would have been bursting the seams of their private room. you are going to have an awesome time and a wonderful meal!! i'll have to live vicariously through you.
