Hi…..so I’m new to all this…sorry if I get anything a bit wrong. And I waffle. Sorry. so, after 11 years we have decided to get married. 6th December is the big day. I really need some advice / help with my dress.
I’m quite petite, tried on every possible style of dress and I could have just kept trying more and more on, puffy ones, straight ones, short ones…you name it! I tried it!( I really envy all you lucky ladies who “found the one”). Eventually I kind of found a dress….It really is a very pretty dress. It’s very plain on the front and has a cowl back, detail on the shoulders. Quite fitted.
anyway, due to our family being massive! And family politics, we’ve ended up inviting cousins who we haven’t seen for years, and uncles we don’t even remember. We’re over that now, but it’s taken a bit of a dint in the budget. My friend reminded me that we do unfortunately have to feed these people, we looked at the budget, and decided we we had to compromise somewhere else. After a lot of thought I know that my dress is important but £1600 for a dress for one day I think is a bit mad.
So I decided to go off a recommendation and order a dress from the dreaded ebay. I spoke to this lovely person, after hundreds of emails, pictures of the dress back and forth I bit the bullet and paid £90 including shipping for the dress. I know £90 is a lot of money, but my mentality was if it came and it was shocking, it’s £90. I can work a few extra shifts and make it back. If it’s ok, bonus.
7 weeks later, it has arrived. I do have to say I think I’ve been very lucky, I’ve read and seen some shocking reviews. All the key parts on the dress are right. It’s not too small, needs a bit of a nip and tuck here and there but it’s noting that can’t be fixed. The only huge issue is the colour. I’m quite pale and found that warmer white colours (ivory sect) didn’t suit me,so I opted for a brilliant white. It’s so white it has like a hit of purple or blue to it…..it’s shiny!! Shiny shiny! I just don’t think I’m a shiny person. So…what do I do? Do I get it dyed? It’s made from…satin? Think it’s probably stretch satin…does anyone know if this can even be dyed? And if so who on earth does something like that? Do I just sack the dress off and start the whole dreaded process again….I would really rather not do that though,I have no idea where I would start again looking for another dress. But as I said I do quite like it, its a pretty dress….it’s just the colour I think…. amy help / advice /thoughts would be greatly appreciated jenn
