I’m new to this site and would appreciate some wedding dress & wedding weight loss advice.
I’m getting married this August and have only just started looking for a dress. Being a plus size bride I’ve tried to avoid anything too fitted, strapless or satin (that’s all there is out there!). I’ve found a dress I’m really happy with but haven’t bought it yet as all my girlfriends seem unsure when I show them the picture so would appreciate an outsiders opinion. Ignore the fake flowers in the picture! I’m worried I’ll look huge in the pictures compared to my size 10 bridesmaids, do any of you larger ladies have any pictures of you in your dresses you’d be happy to share?
I’m hoping to lose quite a bit of weight before the wedding but only have 7/8 months, not sure what is achievable in this time.

I one time see advice on aome articles on the internet about buying the wedding dress. She says that buy the dress on your current size. Also, it is a much easier alteration to reduce the size of the dress than making it larger (they have no extra material to do it). My seamstress says that the maximum dress size you can reduce is 2 (eg: 10->6, or 14->10), so this may give you some pictures of what can be done to your dress

What is “quite a bit of weight”??
You dont need to lose a whole lot, geesh! I think in 7/8 months realistically someone could lose 60 lbs! But you dont need to lose that lol
You look great! And the dress is really pretty

Dress is amazing on you. It’s really flattering how it draws the eye into the waist. I’m a big fan of lace so pretty!
In terms of what size to buy and weight loss- have you had success losing weight before? be realistic with yourself. If you have the time, money and devotion to focus on losing weight, then buying a dress a size or two smaller could be good motivation. If you tend to fall off the wagon (like me!) then save yourself the stress/pressure- it would be awful not being able to fit your dress.

Your dress is gorgeous and you look stunning. I second @kjo: “What is “quite a bit if weight?“
I am starting a healthy eating and exercising plan once I get back from holiday (on the 4th) so I would be more then happy to be a weight loss buddy, if you think that would help motivate you.
(Who is you dress by?)

Thank you. It’s by Justin Alexander. Beautiful dress. I’ve attached a picture of how the designer probably intended it to look!! it’s hard to find pictures of fuller figured women in wedding dresses.
The picture must be flattering because I’m about 220lbs, I’m 5′ 8″ so think the height must hide it well thank god! Would maybe like to lose about 40lbs.
