I’m new to these boards! I’ve scoured them for a lot of answers for wedding questions – but never posted one myself. I am in the process of searching for a dress. My style is very classic and simple and I’m having a difficult time finding that in dresses. Most have very elaborate beading and sequins (which remind me of dance costumes from my childhood and are a definitey NO!).
Does anyone know if you can order dresses without the beading/sequins? And if so, which designers will do it? I wouldn’t be opposed to paying the same price. It’s just that most dresses I look at I reject because there is too much beading.
Any insight would be great!!! Thanks!

@wponczak: I was a figure skater growing up, and I too avoided dresses with a lot of bling (although my sash is very sparkly). I know there are some lines like Martina Liana where you can order without the beading. I don’t know about a lot of other brands though. My dress is a Monique Lhuillier from the Bliss collectio. It’s got very elaborate lace, but no beads on it.

@wponczak: I’m not sure about ordering a beaded dress without the beads, but designer Lis Simon uses very little beading and bling, and her dresses are beautiful! My dress in ones of hers, its the Erin.

CHeck out Amy Kuschel dresses and Nicole Miller, very little beading.

There are a lot of dresses without beading! If you find one WITH beading, often it is very easy to remove and you can ask a seamstress to do it for you. However, I’ve not heard of ordering the actual dress without beading.

@wponczak: I’m not 100% sure about ordering dresses without beading but when I went to try my dress on for measurements, I made a comment about the beading underneath the arms and how it was rubbing. They said that they could remove it for me if I wanted but I worry that it might not look right on my dress. So if you fall in love with a dress with a lot of beading, just ask them to remove it.
