mine was $1000. unfortunately i fell in love with a dress that cost twice that. we got it and my wonderful grandmother bought it for me! :) so it all worked out.
I was given a $5,000 budget for my dress, as a gift from a family member. I spent $695 on my dress and it needs no alterations, so the rest of the budget is a wedding gift. I just didn't feel the need to spend so much.
I thought was going to pay over $2,000 but ended finding my dream dress for $1,500.
I planned to cap things at $1000 and found a dress for $850. When I add taxes and alterations, and accessories (I know that's not part of "the dress" but let's face it, it's clothing and has to match!), it will probably come out to $1500-1600.
I think this needs a poll!
Mom is buying my dress and I would like to spend under 3k, although she has not set a budget I just couldnt justify spending any more.
At first I set my budget as 1k max, hoping to stay closer to $500, but I found after a lot of looking I didn't find anything I really loved. So instead I designed my own and my mom and I are making my dress and the materials have worked out to be under $200 including my bra. Nice bonus. : )
Mine was $2500 and I was psyched I came in under including alterations and veil!
I didnt really set a hard budget, but I thought 1k was reasonable. Except I'm pretty cheap, so I ended up finding a dress for 250 at running of the brides.
My wedding dress budget was $1500, but I got my dress for $984. I am hoping I can get my alterations for cheap since all I'll need is a bustle put in (I ordered a petite because I am only 5ft 2 and 3/4. Petites are 5ft 6in, but I'll be wearing 4 heels. My dress also has a corset back) and pressed and steamed.
My budget was $1200, but my dress was $1800. We are cutting in other areas to make up for it :)
My budget was $3000. But I found a dress I loved for $1500.
I told myself up to $3K but miraculously got The Dress for $2K, alterations included (had to majorly negotiate though).
My budget was $500 brought my dress for $499. I wanted a Maggie Sottero or Sottero & Midgley dress but found out how much they cost so I took the thought out of my mind. I happen to stroll into a boutique by my job and asked if they had any sales coming up they did, so I scheduled an appointment. The dress I fell in love with was a Sottero & Midgley which I didn't know until I took the dress off. I brought it off the rack and it is a discontiuned style from the 2008 line. Atleast I know many new brides would not have my dress
.
We got two wedding dresses (same-sex wedding) for under $1,000!
My budget was $500 I got a $2000 dress.... sigh it'll be well over $3000 after alterations =/
My budget was $1,000 which I initially was under. There was an issue with the dress, and the shop and I ended up returning it. My new dress was around $1,500 and my parents paid the difference.
My budget is $1000 including alterations-- bought the dress for $750, so I think I'll be right at or slighty below!
Mine was $2000, but I ended up fighting a dress that was $850. Soooo I got my chinese chi pao dress for the reception!
My budget was £500 ($750) but i found exactly what i was looking for for £200! ($350)
(that price also incudes the alterations)
My budgets was $3000, but the dress I chose was around $1500. I was thrilled to be under budget!
Mine was £1,000, so I voted $1,000 - $2,000. It was the only thing I was prepared to go over budget on, because I knew I wouldn't be able to walk away from *the one*. However, the dress I bought was probably the cheapest one that I tried on, and it was under budget! = happy bride!!
I loved being under budget because to me it meant
Dress under budget = buy more pretty things
I didn't really have a budget, but love bridal fashion and getting a designer gown would be a bit expensive. I also wanted a gown that was made in the US.
I was keeping an eye on the sample sellers and preowned websites, assuming that was the only way to get a designer gown that was made here.
I wound up with two gowns. One is a one-of-a-kind gown that I won from the designer in a contest. Retail on that would have been $6000-7000. I also got am Amsale at a sample reseller and paid about $1300 for it. Add in about $400 in alterations, and my two dresses cost about $1700 (retail would have probably been about $11,000 for both).
I'm ordering my replica dress from China, and by the time I add in shoes, accessories, veil, undergarments, etc. my expense will be under $500.
I initially wanted to stay around $500 or less, but then I fell in love with the Mori Lee 4808 which was closer to $650. After some competitive pricing, I was able to get her (and a gorgeous floor-length veil!) for $592 after taxes. SCORE.
First time around my budget was $1000 and I found it for $599. Then when i went to pick it up....hate. Mom did some sweet talking and we got a store credit (doing bridesmaids there now!). The next shopping day my dad phoned me that morning and put the budget up to $2000! Found the one and bought the sample for $1400 :)
My budget was about $3k but I fell in love with an $800 dress! Love that!
I was planning on spending about $2000 (including alterations) on a Maggie when I saw Vera's collection for DB. I fell in love and saved about $500 in the process.
Is the poll for what your budget was, or how much you actually spent?
My budget was 2000 (including alterations) but ended up spending 2240 without alterations. The salon is giving me 100$ of free alterations so hopefully I won't go over that, especially since I got it measured hollow to hem! Fingers crossed!
My grandmom was buying my dress, and didn't give me a budget, but I couldn't bring myself to spend more than about $1000 on the dress itself, knowing there would then be alterations, accessories, etc. My dress was $550 on sale, so after alterations and accessories (including $200 splurge-y shoes) my total will be about $1100, at the more expensive end of my estimates. I'm ok with that.
I orginially wanted a ready made wedding dress under $500 because I didnt think I would find a couture gown under $1k. Thanks to a wonderful sample gown reseller I was able to wear Badgley Mischka gown for under $700. Yes it was from the 09 line but who cares when its your style and your dream designer. With all the $$$ I saved, I was able to purchase my replica reception dress. My total for both dresses and altrations was $1100.
I set no more than $2K... but ended up buying both my dress and flower headpiece for $850 total!
We had a lovely little elopement so my dress was more of an evening gown- a sapphire blue BCBG with a train. It was the perfect dress for our perfect occassion. To me, its not so much how much something costs, but how well it completes your vision for your perfect day.
Nice to meet another sewing bee.......I am making my 4 bridesmaid dresses...I have ordered my dress from a shop though. Have you started it yet? I am just at the ordered the fabric stage...good luck with it.
