The boxes are usually special non acidic boxes so they will not yellow the dresses. If you really want to keep the dress for the future, it would be a good investment to getting it professionally cleaned and stored. They use special products for it. My moms dress was not properly preserved and it fell apart almost to dust, sad, because it was so beautiful that I would have reworked it and worn it myself.
Honestly, I don't think I care much for having it for the next 100 years. I wouldn't mind selling it, but I know it's so hard to sell gowns... But I guess I might as well go all out and preserve it properly.

My wedding was 3 months ago, and I haven't cleaned my dress yet, I'm so bad :( I'd love to have any recommendations for affordable cleaning, I'm in the GTA/Brampton area. The quotes I've gotten are $130-170, and up. Most places won't even say how much until they see the dress, but I'm not prepared to lug it all over town.
I'm also wondering, has anyone taken it upon themselves to box the dress yourself? It would be easier for me to store in a box, but not sure I want to pay an extra $50 for it. Between this, and thank you card, and photo books... who knew that wedding costs wouldn't end when the wedding does?
