A lot of custom dresses are scams, and it really depends on the seller. How are the reviews from the seller’s other customers?

Oh no! When did you put down your deposit? This sounds really bad. 5 weeks is waaayyy too long for someone to ignore your messges. At least if it’s been less thn 90 days, your CC can get you your money back. But I agree with the pp. How are her reviews?

That is terrible! I would at least try something on and find a back up just in case.  5 weeks is a short time especially if you need alterations.  Good luck!

You need to go beyond email.  Track down her phone number and start calling.  Track down every piece of information you can about her.  Real name, address, etc.

Are you Kari?  I just found their Facebook page and they said that Rebecca will be in touch with you shortly.  They posted that 7 minutes ago.

Why is the Facebook page written as if the person answering the messages isn’t Rebecca?  Smells fishy.  Her operations doesn’t look large enough for her to have staff.

Alright, you still have  of time to find a back up dress and to find bridesmaids dresses. So don’t sweat that. Give yourself a D-Day that if the dress you ordered is not sitting in your living room by, you will go looking for something else. Plan out D-Day weekend with one of your bridesmaids and drive to the biggest mall in the area (a good number of the larger department stores might have even bridal sections. I was just in Macy’s and they had a bridal department with beautiful dresses and had a whole sale rack full of dresses between 6 and 22 for like $500-$1,000). Scour prom dresses and the evening wear section. Find something you love, that you can RETURN, but so you know that you will have A DRESS no matter what happens.

I am a big believer of planning for the worst.

I agree with @Jeannine @ Small Chic:…go beyond email and file a complaint with your CC company if you haven’t heard from her soon.

Wow I am so sorry to hear that this is happening to you! That is sooo stressful. Why don’t you choose a well-known Chinese dressmaker from online. Most of the good ones will have your dress on your doorstep in 35 days and the whole dress with shipping included would definitly be under $500. I got my engagement party dress from one of them and it arrived 25 days after I ordered it. If you are interested in knowing which ones are trustworthy and reputable let me know and I will give you a list. Hope everything works out with your dress but if it doesn’t just remember that you are not completely out of luck.

I would head to davids bridal and try and find a nice dress there… they are usually able to rush an order or they would have several sizes of each style in stock. Then of course file a complaint about the etsy seller
