I have been a dedicated reader throughout my wedding journey here on weddingbee. Now, I am in dire need of your help (wedding is in 2 weeks) and I feel like I am going crazy dealing with dress regret and deciding whether to get a second dress. Here goes: I planned my wedding very quickly (~3 months) so everything has been going by super quick. I chose my dress on my first dress shopping trip with my family. I wanted something very elegant, non-sparkly, non-poofy. I bought the Allure dress below. I was happy for a while..
Now after seeing all the glamorous photos on here, pinterest, etc. I feel like my dress is too plain! I don’t feel glamorous/beautiful, I just feel sweet, but that’s not how I want to feel on my wedding day. Ever the tailor told me the dress is very simple (in a good way, but still!) 🙁
I am thinking of getting a glamorous reception dress (sparkly) like the one below to feel more glamorous (we are getting married in a setting where it won’t look over the top). However, I am not sure because maybe a white dress is more glamorous/bridal than changing into a sparkly reception dress? What do you think? Please help, I feel like I’m going crazy.
Allure 9019 wedding dress (I am getting the back of the slup altered to be a bit lower than in the photo and the lace would be the same on the top):
Possible reception dress (It’s all see through, so don’t mind that the slip the model is wearing is short, I would wear a long slip so it’s more elegant):

Personally I think the Allure dress is very sophisticated – not plain in the least. The lace, neckline, and puddle train are elegant and glamorous – not simple! I don’t like the reception dress – it doesn’t hold a candle to the wedding gown you chose.

I too like the first dress and think you can always Dress up a simple dress with accessories like headpiece or glam earrings. I don’t dig the second dress because to me it looks like something one of your guests could wear or a bridesmaid dress. I really love your first dress and I dont think the second one is necessary at all

I am in love with your first dress. It is stunning. The second dress makes me think of New Years Eve or Las Vegas vibe for some reasons. It’s a fun dress but I feel like you can wear it for other occasions.

I would 100% stick with the first dress. Simple, yes, but very elegant, feminine and bridal. I absolutely love it! I’m getting married next year and I’ve taken note of this dress, thanks!

I really love your wedding dress. Perhaps add a glittery belt, earings, bracelet and head peice – that will really glam it up.
Honestly, the 2nd dress I really dislike. I think it looks way too flashy and more of a prom dress than a wedding dress.

I love both dresses! I would go with glamorous hair and makeup so you stop feeling “sweet” and go with strong but simple accessories.

Your wedding dress is beautiful! So classy, elegant, and sophisticated. I especially like the button-down back. I don’t really like the sparkly dress, sorry. I think it would be best to add sparkle with accessories as others have said.

I think your wedding dress is amazing, elegant, sophisticated and very bridal. I think sometimes very blingy can end up super dated in 5 years….you have a classic and stunning gown, especially with those beautiful buttons!!!

londonista: I wouldn’t describe your wedding dress as simple, so much as extremely elegant and beautiful. I think it is an amazing dress, and would be shocked if you don’t love it once you are in your full final bridal look (hair, make-up, accessories etc.) waiting to walk down the aisle!
I think the reception dress looks pretty amazing too, and if you want it, go for it. The only thing I’ll say is that you only get to be a bride and wear a wedding dress once (hopefully!) so you should only change out of it if that’s what will truly make you happier.
I know you weren’t after anything sparkly, but if you wanted to add a little something to your dress (which you don’t need to, but could if you wanted!) I think a very thin sparkly belt could look really good.

It looks like I’m in the minority here, but I would absolutely get the second dress. In general I’m a fan of having second dresses, this is a day when you can and should play dress up as much as you want to! If your first dress isn’t everything you want, by all means wear a second one so that you can get everything that you want out of your wedding dress experience.

i think your dress is beautiful, i also felt the same way about my allure (8764) i thought it was plain and simple while on the hanger and on model pictures but when i put it on it was amazing and surely my dream dress the scalloping and lace detail on allure dresses it beautiful. i just added sparkly jewlery and a vail and it was stunning! The second dress is pretty but it doesnt say bride to me, i think you will wish you had the chance to wear your wedding dress for more than just an hour for the ceremony!
