- Wedding: June 2013
Hi, Bees! Long time lurker, first time poster.
I’ve been a very reluctant bride, more comfortable in jeans and t-shirts, and have barely attended weddings even as a guest.
I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good resource to get torn wedding dresses and veils? Particularly those with intricate beading or embroidery or appliques?
I’m going for a non-traditional dress (white and indigo/purple dip-dyed Wai Ching dress), and have looked at non-traditional headpieces, but nothing seems right. Even the traditional veil doesn’t feel right, but it’s a little bit of symbolic traditionalism I wouldn’t mind incorporating somehow into my outfit.
I’ve gotten it into my head to create a veil for myself akin to the Armani Prive Fall 2012 veils, like this:
I’m not really sure where to start, but I thought it would be great to get my hands on some scraps of appliques or embelishments and I could maybe add beads or stones from there. Any that are on netting are even better.
I figure there has to be some resource for torn dresses and veils, no? I’ve tried eBay and etsy with no luck. Where do ruined dresses and veils go to die??? Or if anyone knows of some they’d like to donate or sell, please let me know!
