You should try evening gown/pageant dress shops and sites (ex. newyorkdress.com). These have plenty of wedding-style gowns for MUCH cheaper!

You just have to know where to look. I tried on my dream dress, went home to think about it and 2 weeks later it went on sale for $375. If you find something you like you just have to scope out the deals. There are also tons of websites for used ones if you dont mind a used dress.

I’m sorry you’re having an issue with the price tags. Unfortunately, wedding gowns are such a specialized item and so many require such attention to detail that yeah, they are a bit more expensive. But I agree, some are downright ridiculous.

I would recommend looking for a sample gown from your local salon. I got my Paloma Blanca from a couture salon in downtown Portland for 68% off because I purchased the sample.

Also consider looking on DressilyMe and Jasminebridalshop.com. Both are replica websites and make designer gown copies for cheaper. 🙂 Good luck in your search honey!

they can be…BUT, there are ways to spend much less 😉

the second hand market is amazing with people selling dresses they no longer want or have worn once and are in excellent shape for less than half the price.

Also, find one you love and have it made 🙂 then you pay someone who has a craft fair value for their work.

I will add to though, that a well made dress isn’t cheap. I’ve tried on dresses that were expensive and cheaply made, and vice versa.

Bridesmaid dresses – get them in white/ivory!! I haven’t tried this yet, but it seems like a lot of them can be done like that!

I totally agree – I could do soooo much else with thousands of dollars – and when I think how hard I’ve worked to earn that money I just can’t do it! I think I could make better memories spending that cash on the honeymoon than a dress that I can wear once!

I completely agree, and was totally on board for the 2nd time around dress!  I ended up finding mine on sale with a free veil for just over 500 dollars, which is more than I wanted to spend.. but its seemed right.

I originally wanted to pay about 150-300… oh well! I do love my dress!!
