Check out WToo by Watters. They are all under $1,000:

Be sure to get a price quote from netbride.com for anything you really like!
If you don't mind a little road trip, I would check out Henri's Cloud Nine in Minerva, OH. That's where I'm finding A LOT under that price that are gorgeous! The two gowns I absolutely love are both under $600. Plus they have their own gown designs on top of designer stuff. I live about two hours away from there and it was definitely worth the drive, and the consultants are absolutely amazing.
go to local dress shops that are more family-owned. They usually carry a number of dress lines that will be under $1000.
Oh my gosh, there's a ton out there for less than $1000, especially if you're willing to go pretty close ($900 range). I'm in Canada, so prices might be a little different (typically higher, I believe), but I rarely saw a dress over $1300. Most Mori Lee's will be ok, most Alfred Angelo's, a good chunk of Alfred Sung's. Mine's a Jai and came in at $950 plus tax.
L&H Bridal carries dresses in your price range. I believe that's in northeast Philly. La Bella Moda in Conshohocken does too. There's also a store in Wilmington, DE...I think it's called Fantasia Bridal that has a lot of dresses.
i bought my dress from a local family owned store. it's a cosmobella and it was under $800.
Many of the Casablanca dresses are under $1,000. You might also want to contact the bridal salons in your area. Some specialize in affordable dresses.
Google "Bridal Warehouse" (Not sure if you have one in your area), they are in the Nashville TN & Louisville KY area. Anyhow, there are prices on all of the dresses. I know that they may not be exactly what another shop would be asking, but it should give you a good idea.
I got my dress from Alfred Angelo and they have a lot of dresses under 1000....
I went to both David's and Alfred Angelo - both places had plenty of styles under 1K (my budget as well!) and I found my dress at AA!!
I shopped mostly at the small bridal shops, but everything I looked at (pretty much) was around $1000--give or take about $200. I got a pronovias gown that was under $1000 and all of the other Pronovias and Maggie Sottero gowns that I tried on and liked were around or a little under $1000. Pretty much ALL of the ones that I liked were in those 2 brands, but you definitely won't be constrained to only a few brands if you have $1000 and can shop at a local retailer.
If there is a Nicole Miller Bridal nearby, that was another shop that I visited that had most of the gowns under $1000. They were simpler than most wedding gowns, but if that is what you are looking for that is another option.
My dress was $1k if new but I bought it off the rack...be open to that, and it will help a lot! It usually means a 10-40% discount I think.
It was a La Sposa by Pronovias.
I live in Philly too. You should check out http://www.sabrinaann.com/ in Ardmore. She sells higher end sample gowns so you could get a high end quality gown in your budget. I tried on a bunch there and even had a deposit on a Lazaro that was amazing. They were all in perfect condition. I'm actually thinking of going back to check out their accessories.
I tried on *dozens* of dresses at a local bridal shop, and not a single one was over $1000. Just be sure to call the shop in advance and make sure they have dresses within your budget. And let your consultant know the maximum amount you're willing to spend - not all of them ask.
i always use this website to check prices: http://www.bestbridalprices.com/
good luck :)
mori lee is I think completely under that in the $400-700 range?
Dont totally shy from bigger designers though.... Maggie Sottero, Pronovias, and Allure Exclusive all carry gowns in the sub $1000 range! I was really surprised!
Most I tried on personally were in the $600-1200 range and a few came in at about $2000... but honestly, the more expensive the dress got, the less I liked them.
That being said, I got a dress for $1600 but it needed so much less done to it that I still stay in my "whole look" budget.
My #2 and #3 choice dresses were both Maggie Sotteros that were both around the $800-$900 range. I ended up with a dress from Davids for $850
Once you find a line that you like , you can check the prices on netbride, as stated already, and plussizebridals online. They give you dresses for way cheaper than retail.
Nicole Miller! First of all, the dresses aren't all that expensive (compared to others) at a bridal shop. but I got 3 of them to try on and figure out which i liked best. one from Ebay ($250), and two from bluefly.com's super duper nicole miller sale. total, the dresses were about $500. I settled on this one, attached. Rue La La also had a Nicole Miller sale earlier this year, but i already had my dress.
Etsy all the way! :D That's where I found and bought my dream dress!
Maggie Sottero has A LOT of dresses under $1000! Mine was only $600 & I LOVE it! :) I'd definitely look into those dresses!
My Allure was $750 but I got it for $575 from Netbrides. Be flexible on fabric. All the satin dresses I loved were more costly, and taffeta is MUCH cheaper. Some lines carry what they call "silk-like" taffeta which moves more softly than regular taffeta (really does seem almost like silk!), but is still just as inexpensive.
I got my Mikaella dress at a bridal salon for 50% off it cost me $850. I think you can find whatever you want to you just have to keep your eyes open and look for sample sales OR just go to a bridal salon and tell them your budget and they will keep that in mind.
Sadly the awesome store I bought my dress at has closed, but try Jay West in Haddonfield, NJ. I found the NJ shops had more of a selection for a grand or under than the PA ones I tried. My dress is from Private Label by G, has a ton of details and I was able to get it for 900.

Just ask the sellers if they will do cheaper, most want to sell and will!
Check this one out - http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/13702/Priscilla-of-Boston-Vineyard-Collection-Ivy-Size-4.html
I bought my Demetrios for 700.00 at a local family owned bridal salon....
I think with a little bit of digging you can really luck out anywhere! Good luck on your search!
You can generally tell the price of a dress by going to theknot.com and looking up the designer. Every dress has a $, $$, $$$, or $$$$ icon under it. I think $ is like under 700 and $$ is like under 1300... it will explain it on their site though. Also, you can just google it and it will probably come up on some authorized retailers site at the suggested retail price.
The two dresses I'm deciding between are Maggie Sotteros. Initially I was quoted 1400 for one and 1300 for the other. I got them both down to around 800 each. It sounds bad, but as soon as I found one I liked I would call all the local salons and get quotes from them. The original salon will probably match it (and you probably want to give them the business because they helped you find it) and if they don't, you can obviously buy it from the person who quoted you that price. I would say 1 in 5 of the salons I called had some sort of sale or promotion going on, hence the lower prices. Also, buying off the rack usually saves about 15 percent. Since you want to stay under a certain price point I would definitely say look for dresses that are around 1,000 and don't give up until you get the dress you want at a good price. I was on the phone for hours but it will end up saving me 500ish dollars. Good luck girl!
Alfred Angelo and some Sottero and Midgely gowns are under the 1k mark. Mine was only slightly above that and it was the JSM1103 (sexy name, right) by Sottero and Midgely. :o) Hope that helps!
Check out Nicole Miller's dresses.
Also, Vera Wang has some gorgeous bridesmaids dresses that come in "sand dune" which is really just ivory. Looks darker on the website. :) Those dresses are $240.
@scissors - I was curious about those Vera Wang BM dresses, actually. The sand dune did seem a bit too dark so I'm glad to know that they're just ivory!
Thanks so much for the advice, everyone!
Another designer, who I am getting my dress through, is Claudine for Alyce Designs. Actually mine looks a heck of a lot like Rabbit's!
Not sure how high their prices go up and I'm not sure of the relative "quality" but I fell in love the first time I saw mine.

I've been doing a lot of dress research online. Unfortunately, most lines and/or retailers don't provide pricing on their sites.
I don't want to spend more thank $1k on my dress. Do you guys know which stores/lines run in my price range, and which are too expensive?
I know David's is in my price range, but I'm not sure which else are.
Thanks in advance!
