I mean, I think the mug is generous as is! I don’t know anyone that doesn’t use them for something — coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.

If you’re on a strict budget, I don’t think you need to put anything else in there. People will know what to do with it!

I’m not sure why, but I’ve always felt that if there’s a place to cut your budget in the wedding, it’s on favors.

Alton Brown has an awesome recipe for instant hot cocoa.  If you wanted to include an element to the favor, you could do separate packets of homemade instant hot cocoa.  People are particular about their coffee, so I think the cocoa would be totally sufficient, not to mention a nice handmade touch.

Hot cocoa is a lovely favor, so if you do want to do favors I am 100% in support of that idea. In fact, not to negate what crackktheskyy said (though crackktheskyy is right about it being sufficient), I think having hot cocoa in the cups would be a lot more fun than just getting the cups alone.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on the fact that your theme is “coffee” – that’s something that represents you two but no one is going to get mad that you were not strict about everything being “coffee”. After all, I’m guessing your menu doesn’t look like this:

Appetizer: Coffee Baked Cowboy Beans

Main Dish: Beef Ribs with Coffee Rub and Coffee Roasted Carrots

Dessert: Coffee Cake with Espresso

..then again, that sounds kind of tasty..

Daenaria727:  Great. Now I want Coffee. Thanks!

FWIW, I’d love the cup on its own – the hot chocolate would just be a tasty bonus. If only my guests were that lucky!
