we are going to do a truffle and m&m’s boxed together for each guest.  We thought long and hard about it and every other idea I had I ended up waffling on it because I really wanted it to be useful to the guest, but ultimately it ends up in a drawer or cabinet somewhere, so we decided on food.  So, I guess I’d choose choice 1 from your list.  Although I have been to a wedding with a candy buffet and that was extremely cute as well.

all of your ideas sound good. you can never go wrong with somethign edible (we are doing chocolates as well), but mugs are at least somethign they can use. A lot of the little decorative things you get are usually thrown out. I also originally wanted to do CD’s, but my friend said “who wants to get a CD of the music you like?” yes, we may like some different music, but I love getting CD’s! I think any of those choices are good though.

I’m giving away mini lucky bamboo plants for my wedding favors.  I figured at least it’s something people can sort of use.  They can just put the plant anywhere and they are like cactus with very low maintenance.  Literally just add water.  🙂

All good options, but I think #2

I prefer to receive wedding favors that last. That being said, I would choose #3 (one can never have too many cds) or #4 (mugs are so handy to have!)

I would go with either a boxed/wrapped edible favour or a candy buffet, from the guest’s point of view.  I would probably not bother to listen to the CD, and I have way too many mugs and I know several other people with this problem!  Just because it’s kind of fun, I think I would prefer a candy buffet over a standard boxed chocolate favour, but boxed works too.

Plants or seeds are cute too.  I like the chocolates or candies better, but then I have a terrible sweet tooth, so take that with a grain of salt.  Err, or a grain of sugar?

I decided to ask my Fiance for a different kind of opinion for you and he said other… not sure thats helpful. I’m not really into edible favors I like something that I can take away and keep. I have champeign flukes from a wedding I still have and love.

I actually love the idea of #4.    It’s unique, and definitely something people can use in the future.   I’d definitely would keep it.

I was just at a wedding this past weekend where they gave glass mugs as favors. It was wonderful and I’m really looking forward to adding them to my collection. They had them setting at each seat and you were then able to use them at the coffee bar (they had a dessert reception). I found it quite unique (since I hadn’t seen it done before) and really enjoyed having something to take away that I would actually use. But I love mugs, so like smartl said, take it with a grain of salt. All the ideas are wonderful and would work great.

we pretty much decided to do sweets and small (live) plants. if a guest wants a chocolate-y treat to take or eat there, perfect and if they want something lasting, they can take a pretty plant we grew.   i like how favors are going back towards candy because as a little kid i remember my older cousins weddings i could always look forward to a plastic wedding bell filled with dinner mints then wrapped in pink tulle with a ribbon 🙂
