I’m getting married in three months! All major decisions have been made…except one! SHOES! The fun part right?? WRONG! I always imagined wearing heels, they seem much more sophisticated than flats, but I was just in a wedding and the heels were the death of all of us! I want to be comfortable on my weddong day, and also I’m a teensy bit self-conscious because my fiance is only about 5-6 inches taller than me which doesn’t look like that much when I’m in heels! I was debating heels vs flats, but really I KNOW that I want to wear flats, I just want to know that flats are fancy enough for a bride! Also, I’m a little worried about looking silly in pictures with my bridesmaids in heels…will I look too short?? Help!! Has anyone done this???

maggiealewine: Lots of people wear flats! They are def ‘fancy’ enough, you can get some really pretty ones! I’m in the same boat where I don’t want me feet to be on fire. I’m going to wear heels for the formal pics and ceremony, then flats for the reception. Maybe that’s an option for you? You won’t have to worry about looking too short at the reception.

I wore heels for the ceremony and changed into sparkly flats I bought at a department store for the reception.

I’ve always been a heels girl (love the difference it makes to my butt haha) but like you I’m wary about heels on the day. My issue with flats is comfort AND making my feet look good lol (not always an option). I came across butterfly twists and got these! So pretty and they’re cushioned too 🙂 I’ll probably still start off in heels provided hemming isn’t an issue but I look forward to popping these girls on after photos.
And on my real size 41 tootsies: excuse the ECU but I love the lacy fabric

Also – 2/3 bridesmaids will be taller than me if they’re in heels, however even with me in flats we’ll be just as tall, if not taller than my SO and his groomsmen. . I’m not worried as we won’t all be together all the time and at the end of the day that’s who we are :)I hope everyone will be too busy enjoying themselves instead of sizing us up, however there’ll always be one!

I literally wore converse and had a blast. My bridesmaids wore heels for the cermony (their choice) and then changed into converse themselves. My dress was long so you couldn’t really see my shoes…but I showed them off anyway.

I’m short anyway so to me it didn’t matter how I look compared to my bridesmaids…it also helped that they were short and well all my groomsmen were tall, so it all worked out.

I wore flats the whole day! I was so glad I did. I never once thought about my feet. I was able to walk all over the park and just focus on trying to keep my dress clean rather than making sure I hd good footing in heels. I would’ve toppled over.
I had the tiniest bridesmaids ever so even though they were all in heels, they still weren’t taller than me. And you can’t tell that they are in heels and I’m not because my dress was long eough to cover up my shoes anyway.

I’m really short too, but I’m also wearing flats on my wedding day so my feet don’t hurt. 🙂 There are some really beautiful bridal flats out there. You won’t look weird next to your bridesmaids, because all eyes will be on you! 🙂 Here’s my wedding shoes.

My Fiance and I are about the same height, so I’m definitely wearing flats! I bought a pair a couple of months ago, but they were just too small (and they were sold out everywhere in my size), so I’m on the hunt for another pair. Flats can definitely be dressy! These are the ones I really wanted to wear.

I’m still a waiting bee, but we’re intending to have a destination beach wedding. I’m not even planning on shoes at all but these pretties:
I don’t think it matters if you wear flats. They have gorgeous options and I’d definitely pick comfort and practicality over convention.

I’m planning on wearing heels for the wedding and dinner, maybe for the first few dances just for the pictures, and then I plan on putting on a pair of white keds for the rest of the evening. Might switch out earlier if need be.
