@katieoc:

Hi Katie,

Have you looked at the catering company Feastivities (feastivities.ca)?

They work out of a few venues in the Niagars region, they have one not too far from Ball’s Falls called Bissel’s Hideaway – I think it’s actually part of a campground, but the have a barn-like building for receptions, a pond and if I’m not mistaken, you can do your ceremony on site there for free.

I’m not sure of the exact price, we were looking at one of their other venues, it was pricing out at $119/person for a sit down dinner, but it was more expensive than Bissels. That price included choice of linens, centrepieces, DJ and all the reception stuff (food, bar, servers etc.)

I can’t say anything about the quality of their food, but the pictures all looked nice and they were great to deal with. The only reason we didn’t go with them was because our wedding is on a Friday, and we were worried about people making it out in traffic, so we stayed in Toronto.

Also there are a few banquet halls in Mississauga and Vaughan that will do Friday weddings at a pretty good discount, if that’s more of what you’re into.

I’m firming up my major vendors now (DJ, photographer etc.) so if you have any questions about those things, feel free to pm me.

When our wedding was going to be much smaller, I researched some other possible locations – I’m pretty sure I still have the information on my laptop, so I can pm it to you once I find it, if you like.

Sorry for the rambling reply, it’s late 🙂

You could look into occasions by the bay. Another bee had told me about it! They are very reasonably priced. http://www.occasionsbythebay.ca

katieoc:  Check out Fantasy farms in Toronto. They are really reasonable with great venue. It’s off in DVP. It’s not buffet but it’s good simple food and really affordable.

We will be getting married at Stillwater on the Lake, which is a boutique bed and breakfast right on the lake, its gorgous, the lady who runs the place is a treat to deal with.  We have booked the entired bed and breakfast for 2 nights, one cottage for me and FI, one with two rooms for 2 other couples, we will be joined by the rest of our guests on Saturday and have “high tea” after the ceremony which is gorgous and very gourmet.  They are also allowing us to bring our own champagne for the toast.  They don’t have a liquor licnese but you might be able to work something out.  It is veryy affordable so check it out and see if you might be interested.

I would check out Bloomfields in Newcastle, ON – you can do buffet dinner and I know you supply your own alcohol as long as you have a liquor license.  It has a really pretty outdoor garden ceremony and the reception is tent style but seems to look nice.  I am going to a wedding there this August.

Hope that helps
