Hi All, was having this discussion with my Mum and we cannot figure out the “correct” answer, she suggested I ask “those ladies on that website you always tell me about!” Haha, oh Mum. So since mother says, I shall ask the hive…
Labor day weekend I am attending my (male) cousin’s wedding. Theyre colors are these gorgeous end of summer/fall hues with the bridesmaids wearing a deep plum color. My Aunt (MOG) is wearing a deep orange-ish dress (it is a gorgeous, just really hard to explain in words) and unfortunately we lost the MOB a little over a year ago.
I have this pretty grey colored cocktail dress that I have been saving for the wedding! Now here is the question: Is is appropriate to coordinate the accessories with the wedding colors? As in, I have a pair of shoes the same color as the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. I know a lot of people frown on non-bridal party guests matching. Does this apply to shoe/purse color as well? Does it make a difference that its part of my family getting married (I am not in the wedding at all though).
Any help would be really appreciated!! And yes its ok to say “find a new pair of shoes a different color!” Thanks!!

accessories are definitely fair game!

Agreed with the other two. You’re not stepping on any toes, and it’s one of those details that is unobtrusive. Plus, you’re not going to be mistaken for a member of the wedding party.

i think as long as the dress you are wearing doesn’t match the wedding colors you willl be fine, smaller items like shoes/purse that are less noticable are ok…

i think that you will be totally fine. 🙂

I think there’s nothing to worry about here. Wear whatever shoes you’d like. 🙂

I dont get all of these wedding “rules”. But heck, if someone had pink for their colors and everything in my closet is pink, I would go out and buy a new dress in a diff color rather than the accessories and think that should be alright. Rules, rules, rules! So many rules!!!!

P.S. Not that everything in my closet is pink, lol. 6 years ago though. Just tought I would use that as an example … Ok my weddingbee addicted butt needs to go to sleep because Im not making sense anymore.
