ok ladies I know Im six months out but I cannot really buy a veil until I make a general decision about what I will do with my hair on the big day. When I say I have long hair, I dont mean bra strap length, Im talking below my bum and growing. Little back story on that: in my faith, women do not cut their hair at all but in a late teen fit, I cut my thick-to-my-knees hair up to being layered and the bottom layer ending being at my bra. I have since become a lot more level headed and active in my faith again so my hair has grown considerably.
Because of the symbolism of my hair in our faith, dear MrH would like it down but I told him to think balloon on his cat if I were to wear it down and put a veil on. I wear it up (sock bun, fan, chignon etc) most of the time Im at work to look more professional as well as older. Im also concerned about mingling with guest while at the reception with my hair down because Im like seriously phobic about hair and food being near each other.
So here are my options:
Down, rolled for the ceremony and then put it up when I go back to get it bustled (my hair is super easy to pin up).
A pretty up do for the ceremony that will still look great without a veil (finger curls, sock bun, or something similar)
Wear it down and just deal with it to make him happy.

My hair is definitely not as long as yours (I tried!), but I wore my hair down and wavy. It was a hit! Plus I didn’t have to worry about it staying up–I’ve got heavy hair and it tends to droop if I put it up. I was a little scared about it getting around the food but I just put all my hair behind me when I started eating and it stayed there mostly. There was a lot of product to wash out at the end of it all, though.

@lilFaithy: Could you curl it and pull it into a loose low side pony so at least it’s just a little tamed?Or your idea to have it down for the ceremony and pin it up for the reception is good. I’m currently on the hunt for a half up half down hair style that can be pinned up or tied up if it starts to get frizzy or fall.

@Missy_Star: I probably could. Didnt think about a pony tail type look!
Ill post some pics of my hair up and down from my phone. Just got told by the boss that I needed to get my butt busy on shutting down the shop! 😉 oh weddingbee…

My hair is down to my ass and I did long, loose curls.
I had a braid around the back of my head starting at the temples to keep my veil in. I had lots of hairspray to wash out and it took a few washes to un knot my hair from the braid & get all the product out.
My secondary choice would have been a ponytail type style as the other poster has stated. They’re classy!

@lilFaithy: my hair is long and I wore my hair down with curls.

I would leave it down for the ceremony, and pin it back (not necessarily up, just away from your face) for the reception!
