Check in with Candace at the Patrick Evan Salon. She's great with all kinds of updos and hair types:)
what about makeup? does anyone have any "budget" recommendations? maybe a local salon that does good work? i'm taking e-pics there in February.
I did my own makeup for my wedding, and it turned out really well! I went to the Laura Mercier counter in Neiman Marcus at Union Square a few weeks ahead of time. I think it was Alex (a friendly young woman) who took me through the basics, as I rarely wear much makeup. I learned some tricks for lining the top of my lids (with a really cool midnight blue) and for applying bronzer without looking orange. I bought most of the makeup, as I don't own much besides mineral powder, mascara, and lip gloss, and I practiced applying my own makeup several times before the wedding. Since my wedding, I've incorporated some of the products into my daily routine (I now can't live without brow pencil! And in all of this rain, the waterproof mascara is really coming in handy), and other I've saved for holiday parties and special occasions. If you're looking for something "budget wise", this may be a good option for you!
i'm planning my sf wedding from the east coast, too!!
my MOH is actually a hairdresser, she's base in LA and is the best in the universe at down do's. she's doing a really cute updo for me, but she's know for her down do's. she's expensive, but if you want someone high end, PM me

I'm planning a wedding from Florida to take place in San Francisco in May. I'm having a really hard time finding good, reasonably-priced people who can do bridal hair. I don't have a lot of money to spend and I'm only going to be out in the Bay Area for the next two weeks during the holidays in order to find a hair dresser and do a trial run with s/he before I'm back out there in May. oh - and I have super thick hair. ugh...
Anyone have any recommendations?
My girls and I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Civic Center, so anywhere in the downtown area would be great...but i'm willing to travel a bit too, if the price is right. Any advice and contact info would be SO helpful.
