Hi Atlanta Bees,
Need your help! Just learned last night, that our photographer, whom I LOVE and did a beautiful job on our engagement pictures may not be available for our wedding. It appears that many of his brides have not been able to get in touch with him and he responded with saying he has been battling a pretty tough time right now and is trying to get his business on track. While I hate that he is going through a rough patch, I also need to be prepared to make other arrangements for our wedding day and precious pictures. So, right now per the current contract, for $1000, I have a photographer plus assistant for 8 hours and all images on a disk – no prints, no albums.
Any ideas on some great photographers in Atlanta at this budget? I’ve looked on some previous threads and looks like almost all photographers mentioned here have had some pretty significant price increases so I’m asking for HELP!! I love a photo journalist approach – but know I might have to pay more…if I have to go up some I might be able to, but reeeally hoping to stay in the $1000 range.

We asked our photographer when we met with them what would happen if they fell ill and they told us that they have a community of photographers who could stand in for them if they were unavailable. Could you ask him if he has this option available for you?
http://www.shannonseye.net Shannon Wright we met with and is really sweet. Her packages are more than you are wanting to spend, but she is probably willing to work with your budget. I bet if you tell her what you need and ask her to take out the engagement session and album credit, she might come down in price. Not sure if that would be low enough for you though.
You could also try jennifer mills photography. She’s willing to work with any budget as well.

Put your budget and your requirements up on craigslist. I’m almost certain you’ll find someone. Also, send emails to people who look more expensive. Since it’s pretty close, people who usually charge more may be willing to give you a discount if they are free then.

If you’re still looking he’s a resonable photographer that’s a perfectionist. The website is under construction but just shoot him an email for his wedding stuff.

I’m using http://www.rebeccabunch.com/ for my Oct wedding. Her price is right in line with what you had and you get all the edited prints on a disk- no album. She’s really sweet and worth checking out. Good Luck!!!

A photographer that I almost went with before finding out she’d booked our date was Jaime Bilbrey (www.jaimebilbrey.com). She’s just out of college so trying to build up her portfolio and is pretty cheap because of it, but she takes awesome pictures. She quoted me $600 for our entire day. Send her a quick message; I have no way of knowing if she’s available that day, but if she is, she’d be a great replacement. She was, I believe, in the Atlanta area, but would travel there regardless, I’m sure, since she was willing to travel to Savannah from wherever in Georgia she is located.

You might also contact Mrs. Scissors…she just started her photography business and she’s in Atlanta. See this classifieds add for contact information:

I was going to suggest Mrs. Scissors as well. Her photos are great.

depending on what date it is, we might have an intern (he’s starting his own photography business as well) who can do it.
