What’s your budget for your honeymoon?

mallorinicole:  What is your budget? On first glance, I would think that an all-inclusive in Mexico would be less expensive given that you have such a short flight.

I live across the continent and it’s not unusual to book an all-inclusive for a week in Mexico for $800-1000. It would, of course, depend on when in December your wedding is scheduled.

mallorinicole:  What about a Caribbean cruise? You can get short 3-5 day ones and some have ports you could drive to!

A honeymoon is not a requirement. Is it an option to stay a night or two in a nice hotel in your area after the wedding? Then save up to go on the vacation you want at a later time..

If you are okay with driving down to Galveston, then there are some cruises that are around $300 per person. I’m sure fees & taxes will jack it up a bit, but I think you can definitely stay within your budget.

My wedding is 2 months from today and we have nothing booked although we’re not planning on going until after Christmas. I’d look at the cruise option out of a homeport on the gulf coast.

mallorinicole:  Oh I get it.. But you can’t afford to do what you want to do. Logically it would make sense to spend a couple nights a hotel together to unwind and destress, save some money, and then go on the honeymoon you want when the finances are right.

mallorinicole:  cruise would be the cheapest option because $1000 to cover flights/hotel/food would add up quick. what has you hesistant about a cruise? I know they arent for everyone but they are a great way to do a lot without spending a lot.

For what it’s worth, you don’t always have to have a honeymoon right after the wedding- lots of couples postpone for a few months, whether it’s due to work schedules, budget, or just to vacation at a better time of year for the destination.  I was just married on August 30th, and our “honeymoon” is planned for December.  I imagine you could save most of that $1,000 budget, and even possibly scrape together a little more over the next month or two, and plan something for February or March?

Other than Groupon and Living Social, have you looked at http://www.cheapcaribbean.com or http://www.bookit.com?  They have amazing deals that include flights for around your budget.

If you still want to get away for a few days after your wedding, have you looked at places in Texas?  I’d bet there are some romantic lodges/cabins/ranches in Texas Hill Country where you could sip champagne in front of the fireplace, get in the hot tub, maybe ride trails on horseback…  Here’s the first thing that popped up when I googled lodges in Texas hill country http://texashillcountryreservations.com/

mallorinicole:  what airport would you be flying out of in Texas? and what date can you leave? Is that $1000 per person or total?

It’s usually way cheaper to book an all inclusive vaction as a package with flight and hotel together.
