My wedding is on July 17, and my fiance and I would like to try to conceive right away, since I am 35 and he is 38. I have been on the pill non-stop since I was 19 years old, and I’m afraid it may take a while for my body to start ovulating again. I am due to start a new (my last) pack tomorrow, but I’m thinking maybe I should just stop now? Is it stupid to go off the pill 3 weeks before my wedding?

I think going off the pill right before your wedding is a pretty BAD idea, actually. You’ll send your horomones and body into a tailspin right as you are doing one of the biggest events of your life. It could wreak havoc on your skin, weight, emotions….search for some of the other threads on this to give yourself an idea of what you might be in for. I would wait until your first period after the wedding to go off. A couple weeks won’t make a difference in your conception, but it COULD ruin your enjoyment of your wedding.

I agree with @crayfish and I would wait until right after your wedding to go off the pill – this way you can make sure that you don’t have your period on your wedding day, and you won’t mess with your hormones right before an extremely emotional time

Yeah I agree with Crayfish. The last thing you need on your wedding day is a combination of break outs, extra water weight, crazy emotions, and an unexpected visit from Aunt Flo (the nerve of her to show up without RSVPing!). You don’t have to stop at the end of a pack. You could just take your pill up through the wedding day and then quit the very next morning. But I would definitely not stop right now…

Oh my gosh I was just reading a few other threads about some of the side effects — depression, anxiety, acne…oh boy….I think I will wait. I am already prone to depression and anxiety so I don’t want to be totally miserable!
Thanks so much! I need to stop being so impatient!
