Is this normal?? I feel like I am enjoying this process too much because it has been a fairly easy journey so far and I am so ready for our special day to be here!
We got engaged in July so by the end of it, it will have been a 9 month engagement. We are planning a “destination” of sorts since all of our families are all over the country and everyone would have to travel no matter where we had it. This is why we decided on Massachusetts- the least amount of people would have to get in an airplane by us getting married there!
I have all my vendors set, I have a general idea of everything that I need to get to done (I think) and how things will go the week of the wedding and the actual event itself!! I have my dress, the tuxes picked out, 2 of my 3 bridesmaids are all taken care of, invitations are waiting to be addressed and sent…My venue is amazing and the coordinator has been the biggest help in every little thing. I’m really excited and am just loving this time getting things done one step at a time. I’m to the point where I feel like it could happen in 2 weeks and I would be all set, which makes the thought of waiting another 4 months almost unbearable!
COME ON, MAY 1!!!
Is anyone else feeling this way?

@LibbyMorris: I’m your wedding date sister! LOL We’re getting married May 2nd 🙂 I’m in a similiar boat with you…we are having a long (year and a half engagement) so pretty much everything is done at this point. Next month I’ll start on the invitations, and its just the small details that need to be ironed out…I like not having too stress out and being able to enjoy our engagement!

@hazyleyedbeauty: Oh that’s so exciting! I’m with ya…being able to take one thing at a time is a huge relief and my fiance’s parents are near the venue so they have been the biggest blessing in helping me do things I can’t be there to do! Everyone keeps saying the time will fly by and I hope they are right!
Do you have a lot of travelers or are most of your guests local?

@LibbyMorris: my whole side of the family and almost my whole bridal party are from out of town plus some out of state family so we probably will have 50 plus out of town guests. time has definitely flown by for us! I started working on invitations last night… It’s so exciting! all the bridal festivities start in February so I figure from there everything is gonna be nonstop! I have my third dress fitting later this month too 🙂

I am getting married May 1st also but we just got engaged and we are having a garden ceremony with just the two of us. I have already started working on my bouquet & other plans but I am finding that since we kept it just to us there is almost no stress. When we send out the announcements I am sure there will be (because of his family).
The only thing I am worried about is not being able to get a dress from David’s Bridal in time (my appointment is for Feb. 1st) and to help that I am opening myself up to different ideas other than A-Line type dresses. Whatever looks good on me hehe. I am just so happy to finally be getting married.

@starsinthesky: Thats awesome! congratulations! I love the idea of a quiet garden ceremony…good for you for going with what you want!
Im sure you will be able to find a dress. I know there are bounds to be at least a few off the rack that will look great on you! I went into dress shopping with a pretty clear vision of what I wanted and what would look good on my body… I was shocked when she put me in the opposite and it actually looked kinda awesome!! I ended up with a dress that was enough different but without straying from what I knew I loved and I couldnt be happier.

I agree I’m all set except for booking my hair and makeup person (early next month) so now I’m left with obsessing over the small details…May can’t arrive any sooner

@LibbyMorris: I’m a month away and at 4, 3, and 2 months there’s nothing to really stress over. Though minimal for me, wait until RSVPs start rolling in. It gets kind of hairy at that point and you might get pissed at all the people that didn’t RSVP, assumed they could add a +1 and etc.

I don’t feel that stressed either! I think it’s also because our planning has gone in waves…we made a lot of big upfront decisions at first, now we’re finalizing the vendor logistics (florist, photog, band, catering, etc) and then in a couple months when the invites go out, we’ll be finalizing the things we need to know for headcount.

@LibbyMorris: My planning was stress-free until people in the bridal party started cancelling (“Sorry, I’m moving away for school/to help a relative”; “Sorry, I’ll be too busy for rehearsals…”). Two of them used the “I’ll get back to you…” line as a way to say no, wasting our time.
By the time I was asking other friends if they could be bridesmaids, it turns out they have already been asked to be in a wedding 2 months before mine.
The last two I asked agreed, although one said she’d have to confirm her participation a little later.
If anyone else drops out I don’t know whom to ask next!

@LibbyMorris: May 1st is my birthday.
I am getting married in May and feel pretty mellow but I think it is because it is a small wedding with minimal planning. Pretty much everything is in place. So no biggie.
