I recently just got engaged and we are really wanting to have our wedding very small and intimate in a secluded area on the beach in Jamaica. Since I do not know anything about resorts, best time of year, best locations, wanting all inclusive packages, pricing, etc.. I was hoping I could find information from others who might have had this and/or any kind of information and knowledge on Jamaica. Let my research begin and I appreciate any information from anyone!!! Thank you in advance! 🙂

Congrats on the engagement 🙂
I’ve been looking at small destination/elopments for a few months and I really like the idea of a Sandals / Couples all-inclusive resort for our wedding. I don’t have family, and FI doesn’t want to invite anyone so he can’t be on the hook for “forgetting” to invite someone at some point (and we really can’t afford, nor do we want, a large affair of any kind). Lots of these places let you choose a gazebo, a beach, or a pier with an awning for the ceremony, flowers fot eh bride, a boutonierre for the groom, and inlcude a small cake and a small toast for the couple (if you have a few guests they can add them on for a fee). If you want a reception as well, and have more than a couple of people joining you, they can help set that up, too. Also, they have photographers on site, and a beauty salon (I like this part – I really just want to show up, get dressed and get married).
There seem to be a lot of places the do all the planning for you, you just pay the government fees and mail some paper work back and forth, and ahve to be on the island for the required amount of time before they can do the ceremony (I think its 48-72 hours?).
hopefully this can snaswer some of your questions, and also, if you like a resort, they will often send you free information packets – http://www.visitjamaica.com/weddings-and-honeymoons. My coffee table has been littered with Sandal and Couples brochures.
Hope this helps – happy planning.

We are getting married at Sandals Negril in April 2015. Sandals has resorts in several locations in Jamaica, but we chose Negril because we heard/read that it has the prettiest beach in Jamaica. Sandals offers a “free beginnings” wedding package with a 6 night stay or several pre-designed and customizable themes. I’m not sure how secluded it’ll be, but they have several different locations on-site where they do the weddings, receptions, etc. You also get a lot of extra stuff depending on when you book… couples massage, breakfast in bed, candlelit dinner, etc.
We chose April because it’s at the tail end of their busy season, it doesn’t appear to be miserably hot yet, and it’s not hurricane season.

Yes to Sandals!! We are getting married at Sandals Montego Bay July 2015. We choose this just really based on all the inclusions, free wedding &reception, everything that we would want to do is already included plus it’s amazingly beautiful and we can splurge on a butler LOL and not go over our budget . Also you have access to the other 2 sandals nearby and the private island I was on there last week checking pricing of rooms for our guest and the special now is if you book at least 3 nights the beautiful beginnings wedding is free!

Hi! Congratulations! We are getting married in December at the Sandals Whitehouse resort in Jamaica. We chose the Whitehouse because it was more affordable than some other resorts and all the rooms are ocean front. Also, they have more bar/restaurant choices than other resorts. If you call sandals and tell them you’re interested in possibly having your wedding there, they will ask what you’re looking for and how you envision spending your time there and will recommend a resort to you. Good luck!
Also, if you don’t have a specific date in mind already, ive found that traveling around holidays/winter time is more affordable. And Jamaica is beautiful and warm all year! But check out this website for more information on hurricane/windy season: http://www.jamaica-travel-secrets.com/weather-in-jamaica.html

My FI and I choose sandals grande riviera. Made the decision last night and need a specific week in April, so fingers crossed!! I love that they offer the basics for free and we can add to it for a reasonable cost. I’m so nervous that there won’t be any availability though!!
