10/28 is the end of hurricane season. You might luck out. If it rains and you have rain plans, then so what. As a guest, I would think it's cool to just BE on vacation. It's not that much different than anyone else who had rain on their wedding date (unless the hurricane is class 3+). I had my wedding in Bermuda on 10/23/07 and the weather was gorgeous...even though weather.com predicted rain the entire week.
dont worry about the weather. i had my wedding in the bahamas (great exuma) in june 2007, and the weekend was on and off showers. i did NOT get to have the ceremony on the beach as planned because of the rain, and in the end, it did not matter. we had the ceremony on a terrace overlooking the golf course, and it was really magical when the rains stopped as we said our vows, the sun came out, and we had a rainbow. the guests were actually relieved not to have to deal with the sand and wind. i guess what im trying to say is that whether or not it rains, you will not be able to control it, and that your wedding will be beautiful regardless =) good luck!
I'm in the same boat, getting married 10/18/08, in Bahamas. I'm at the point if it's going to rain so be it. It's all about being surrounded by family and friends. Rain or shine we're going to have a blast :)
Where is Bahamas are you getting married ?
P.S We are getting insurance ( to be on the safe side)
Eh- don't sweat it too much. Even if you did something outside of hurricane season anything could happen...at any location (from NYC to Key west- weather happens) I'm getting married outside too- and I'm a little nervous as well.
But just get a contigency plan in the works- pack some fun umbrellas and rain boots for cute pictures. and just think positive. I'll put out some positive thoughts for you and your day too.
And I think your guests- if they are traveling all that way- its for YOU. and they will be happy to be there with you, no matter if the days are a little less than perfect.
Thanks again for the feedback- we are thinking about Great Exuma. Other than the rain, my only other concern from reading some online reviews are the bugs but nothing that a little Off in the gift bags wont take care of! Very true that it could rain anywhere.

I am having a HUGE dilemma. We dont know if we should go ahead with a 10/28/08 wedding the bahamas. I just dont know what to do. I would feel terrible if the weather was bad/rainy for the people who traveled quite a distance. I know it will still be hurricane season and Oct is a rainy month. Do i take a chance?
