I may be totally wrong, but I think you may need to live in the country for a month at least? Or get your marriage license a month before (and both need to be present in the country). I know there are a couple of hoops to jump through before getting married there.
Yeah! I think you have to live there for at least 40 days so we are going to get married through the Court in Texas and want to have a symbolic wedding in Paris. Thank you for responding!
When FI and I looked into Paris, we decided against it because we wanted a 'real'/ legally binding ceremony there and you have to be in the city for at least 40days or something to get legally married there. So that was a no go, so I didnt look into it too much at all. But if you google it you should come up with something, just make sure your officiant speaks english! Also, ask your hotel as they might be able to help you out. Good luck!
for the marriage to be legal it think you need to reside there 40 consecutive days but OP said its a "symbolic ceremony". there are companies that handle all the logistics of a paris DW so maybe you should contact them to enquire
You might want to read Mrs. Chick's archives and/or email her. She was married in Sauternes, France. Good luck!
Here's a site I was looking at a while back. It might be helpful:
I don't know what you are envisioning for a symbolic wedding - a church wedding or not? But you may wish to try the American Church in Paris. http://www.acparis.org/
You might also want to check out the real weddings at intimateweddings.com. I know there are at least three real weddings in Paris, and on that site each couple goes through their entire process, and at the end they list their vendors (including officiant).
When my fiance and I considered Paris, these were really helpful!
@vmartinez718: We are getting married in Italy and getting an international wedding license-- we used a wedding planner. I would recommend the same.

I am from Texas and my Fiance and I are planning to have a symbolic ceremony in Paris, France (just the two of us) and we want to plan this ourselves. We are having trouble finding an officiant/celebrant and are trying to figure out the cheapest and easiest way to plan this without a wedding planner! PLEASE HELP! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
