Just wondering if anyone has thought about wedding insurance? I didn’t even know they had such a thing until I received a card in the mail so now I am putting thought into it. My parents are helping with the cost of the wedding and my FI don’t have too much money and a small child so not sure what to do. With the economy being the way it is not sure what is going to happen before my 2/20/10 wedding. Anyone have any thoughts I would love to hear them.

I’ve been thinking about this as well and mentioned it to the FI. His first thought was no because tons of people get married w/o wedding insurance and are fine. But of course I had to mention well, what if we were that one couple! So he’s mulling it over right now.
I would suggest setting up an appointment, whether in person or via phone, w/your insurance agent and see what your options are. Like any other kind of insurance there are many add ons you can put on, different liabilities, etc that change the price of the wedding insurance. Talk it over, do some online research and then see if it’s worth it for you.
I’m usually pretty lucky with things like these but do fear the what if. What if our venue closed down a month before our wedding. What if the caterer doesn’t show up. Obviously no amount of money will give us back the prior months of planning. But knowing at least you can get some deposit back is a good piece of mind.
If we do we will most likely get it through Travelers because we also have our homewoner, auto & Ering insurance through them so we will most likely get a discount. They also have a quick online estimator for the wedding insurance based on what kind of coverage you want. To give you a rough idea of how much it might cost you.
I’ll be interested to see if any married couples purchased it and what they thought!
