This is for my brother, who is getting married in January…. His generous future in-laws are hosting the wedding. The invitation is going to read: "Mr. & Mrs. XX request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter, XX to YY, son of ________." Our father is deceased, so my question for my brother is: should our father’s name go in the blank with my mom’s name so it reads "Mrs. Jane Smith and the late Mr. John Smith" or should it be "Mrs. Jane Smith" or "Mrs. John Smith?" I know that a deceased parent’s name is usually not included in the invitation as a host, but I wasn’t sure what the etiquette was for this situation.
