Positive feeling better thoughts coming your way! Drinking lots of fluids should help also. It is really important to stay hydrated.
I was sick 2 weeks ago and I ate vitamin C like it was my job. I went to target and got the chewable ones and ate 3 a day (morning, noon and night), 2 days later I was significantly better! Maybe you can go to a Dr to get on any antibotic which wont help for a few days but maybe for your honeymoon? But I think the general thought is antibotics do not work for colds... Feel better soon!
Here is what I do when I get head colds:
My sister/MOH woke me up at 5AM the morning of my wedding, sobbing because she felt so miserable (the poor thing actually said "I have worked TOO hard on this wedding to be sick and not enjoy it!) We dosed the heck out of her with tylenol cold and flu (the one that has the "day" pills and the "night" pills), EmergenC and tons and tons of water and OJ. She actually did ok all day/night Saturday, but by Sunday night, she crashed. I am sure that other 'bees have better recommendations of what to do NOW, but this work the day of the wedding if you find yourself feeling lousy on Sunday. Feel better soon!
Oh no!!!! That really really sucks! Okay, here's the recipe from my naturopath that always helps me ward off colds. She recommends drinking at least two cups a day.
Personally, I just chop up the ginger because it's easier to scoop out. I think if you put it in cheesecloth it would work really well, and I've found you can use the ginger pieces more than once. I usually double this and just leave it on the stove, reheating as I need it (it takes me a day or day and a half to go through it). It sort of tastes like NeoCitran, it's REALLY yummy.
I hope you feel better soon hon!!!
@Mrs. Cooper: Thankfully we're not taking our honeymoon until February! Taking the Vitamin C per FH's demand and I think you're right, it is indeed helping a little bit. Colds are colds and there just isn't a lot we can do about them....ARGH
@bakerella: I had ginger tea this morning! Fh went to Whole Foods and grabbed Peach/Ginger tea and thats what I have been drinking, mmmmm Good thing I like ginger, LOL You are right thought it totally has been making me feel better. At the moment whats bothering me is my freakin' head!
So sorry you are sick so close to the wedding. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Keep using the neti pot ( I use one daily!), lots of Vit. C, tea and SLEEP! I think sleep could be the most important!! Hang in there. :)
Call you Doctor ASAP and let them know your wedding is this weekend. They might recommend a great quick fix!.
Try the following:
Hot water with lemon and honey (honey for the throat, lemon to disinfect)
Netti Pot
Hot water and garlic
Eat lots of Oranges
Vitamin D
Oh, no! Sleep, lots of sleep. Water and tea. Hot showers to steam out your sinuses. Make sure you're eating, too. Hopefully it will be mostly cleared up by the weekend.
Oh no! Definitely sleep, and hydrate a ton like the other bees said. Maybe some chicken soup and some Tylenol for the head ache? Feel better soon!
Hope your feeling better! Have a wonderful happy wedding weekend!
Just checking in to see how you're feeling! hope it's wonderful and don't be a stranger ;)
@jackie-o: ohhh girl, i hope you are feeling better!!!! i am sending you all of my energy and positive vibees that all of the above treatments have made you better! sleep and sweat out the toxins!
Try Mucinex and Advil Cold and Sinus. They always seem to help me.
COD LIVER OIL. Okay, I know it's disgusting, but this is an emergency! You can get it in gel-caps too. I just started taking it as a supplement when I'm sick (on the advice of a health junky co-worker whos in great shape) and it has worked everytime! It helps to boost your immune system :)

Yesterday I woke up with a terrible scratchy soar throat. My head was beginning to feel very heavy and I knew it was a COLD about to take over my body. I worked half day went home took NyQuil slept from 1:30-7pm woke up ate some food worked on some last minute wedding projects then took NyQuil again and went back to bed until this morning.
I did the NetiPot which I love and at the moment I am feeling ok. I am SO scared of being sick on my wedding day – My FIL’s and parents arrive into town tonight then our friends and family all arrive tomorrow and Friday.
Aside from Emergen-C is there something that helps you with head colds that you can suggest for me?
This is THE PITS....
