Unfortunately I do not have any helpful insights - but I am sorry this has happened to you and I hope it all gets sorted soon!
Go to the registrar / town hall where you applied first thing when you come back and explain the situation. Also, see if you can still get on your husband's insurance with the typo on the wedding license.
What a mess! Did they just misspell it, or is it a whole different name?
I'm sure you can figure this out when you get back. If nothing else, you should still have at least 30 days to get added on his insurance from the date everything is finalized. But I'd start with that, they may not even need the license.
Good luck -- and so sorry you're having to worry about this!
They put the wrong first name, but his last name is pretty uncommon, so I am pretty sure I am not "married" to someone else. Given they ask for social security numbers, I am hoping that legally, his SSN and mine are "married" and it's just a quick fix. I am usually SOOO detail oriented because I am always afraid something stupid like this will happen, but I figured since we checked on the computer, it was fine.
Oh no! I'm sorry that happened but think of the upside and the funny stories you can tell your kids and grandkids about how grandma almost married somebody else!
I believe you two are def married since the SSN#'s are right. They should quickly fix it.
Just think about this 10 years from now.
I'm going through the same thing at the moment...his LAST name is wrong. We were told (in NJ) it would take 4-6 months to fix, but that shouldn't stop you from getting on his insurance. They only need to see that you are married, which the marriage license does show (albeit, a bit incorrectly).
I'd try to get on his insurance with the typo-d license. We had 31 days from our wedding for me to drop my insurance and I missed the deadline.. oops!
Ugggggh frustrating. No advice, but I'm sorry you have to go through this!
The good news is that his work people said I can get on his insurance with the wrong license.
Bad news is the priest (who is normally disorganized) turned it in quickly, so we now have to each do affidavits and get them notarized, and do a motion to change it. Plus pay extra fees- because it is our fault we didn't catch THEIR mistake. Despite the fact we proofread the computer screen and they gave us the license in an envelope, so I didn't check it. Fortunately, new father in law is a retired lawyer, so he drew up the papers and we are going to try to fix it today. Wish me luck!

When FI and I went for marriage license, they had us review al lthe info on the computer. It was all correct, they gave me the marriage license in a folder, I gave it to priest at rehearsal, then got it back day after signed, and looked at it- they have my husband's first name wrong! My friend called while we were on the honeymoon, she was told two different things, one was to go where we got the marriage license, one was he had to go to court. He can't go til later this week due to work. I am worried this is going to be a huge headache with more fees. I need to get the license so I can get signed up for his health insurance (his is MUCH better) and to change my name and am freaking out a bit. Anyone have any helpful insights?
