Hmmm, I think it was supposed to be like a new generation of wedding magazine. I signed up for the first issue and was quite disappointed by it.
I also found it ironic that they are starting a print magazine at a time when it's becoming increasingly clear that brides prefer websites and blogs.
What really irritated me was that anything they literally could not sell, they googled and found online and threw it in there to make it look magazine like, but then anything they could possibly sell on their website, they definitely threw an advertisement in for that. Lame.
I browsed it once or twice and wouldn't call it a magazine at all. I'd rather get info from the boards here.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one, Ember. I totally agree. I was excited because I thought there may be another real magazine coming out... nope. :(
Weddingday, I am just going to throw this out there with the disclaimer that I truly have no idea who you are. But seriously, that sounds like a very carefully worded advertisement, coupled with the fact that you are a "newbee."
But, if you did truly enjoy it, to each his own. I just think it's a bit crap that it's $3+ for essentially them to sell you their own stuff. I agree that there are other bits and pieces that are NOT from them, but for example--not telling you where any of the cakes are from, except from a website? Does me no good, because I don't know where the bakers are located and whether I should waste my time. Perhaps if this was a carefully worded advertisement and you work for the company (NOT SAYING YOU DO, this is a "what-if") you might be able to pass the word along!
@cinema - I'm with you, this doesn't sound real...if you look at her other posts, there's a couple more "ads" for Get Married. Is it even allowed to blatantly promote products like that in the forums?
@weddingday - Get Married does tell you where to get the products featured, and most of them are from the magazine's own website. I think that makes more of a spiced up catalog than a real magazine
@GirlWithARing, you are correct that vendor advertising is not allowed, per the disclaimer above the reply box. You can flag the post and a moderator will check to see if it's legit or not.
I agree that that sounds too biased and carefully worded to be anything but a vendor ad. It's one thing if you've actually used the vendor and have several legitimate posts already so that people know who you are and it something else to be a brand new poster who is passionately promoting something. Unfortunately there are vendors who have the latter down to an art but you can still see through them and hopefully not use their services due to their lack of professionalism.
Hi everyone! WOW so sorry to stir up trouble as I said I am new to the site and to the wedding world but I am not an advertiser or part of Get Married. I live in Chicago and I am just excited about all of these avenues I am finding for wedding planning. I agree the magazines does have a lot of their own products but I really liked their real weddings and found some great inspriations in there.
Didn't mean to upset or offend anyone just got really excited in my new stage as a bride. This is my personal opionon sorry if it's not the same as yours. I just got really into the magazine and wanted to share...totally cool if you dont agree just giving my opinion.
I wonder if this is in conjunction with the show "Get Married" on WeTV. I think it probably is and if so I'm not surprised that it is not the greatest. I remember watching the show a few times during my planning and mostly just found it annoying. At the time David Tutera was the host although I think it's someone else now. The show was full of ads for junky stuff and seemed almost like an infomercial. I was tivoing it until I realized there were very few new or inspiring ideas.
I removed weddingday28's earlier post about Get Married after receiving several flags and reviewing it.
We had no problems with a single post with a positive review and a link to Get Married's website... but out of 11 posts by this author, 3 of them were about Get Married and included links to their website.
thanks Mr. Bee for investigating :)
And I had no idea there was a show, but it makes sense that the two may be related if it seemed infomercial-like. Oh well. Here's hoping for more wedding mags!

Anyone else get this in the mail recently? I think it has to do with my Knot subscription or something... but it's just one long advertisement! I am really not ok with it pretending to be a "wedding magazine," I think I'd just rather buy a wedding magazine!
