I recently found a makeup artist who I love and I think does a great job. I really felt she understood my more natural look. Anyway, her day of wedding services seem a bit pricey but I’m not really sure what is a good rate so I was hoping to hear some feedback. I know this would vary a lot regionally but still. Its $225 for a trail, eyebrow shaping, on-site makeup, eyelash application and a touch up kit for the day. $200 without the touch up kit.
I suppose my other question is what are your thoughts on if wedding makeup is worth the cost? I feel like I’m spending so much on other things that I might as well look my best but maybe their are cheaper options?

It was SO worth the cost for me. I’m capable of doing my own makeup on an ordinary day/night out, but for the wedding day, it needed to last and look good for like 10 hours. I don’t have the talent/knowledge to make that happen on my own. $225 doesn’t seem bad if it includes the trial! But as you said, that’s a very regional thing–my day of makeup was $225, not including my trial.

that sounds reasonable if it includes the trial. where are you? you might be able to find something cheaper. my rate including the trial was about the same, but includes my hair.

Yes, professional makeup was a must-have for me. Like @hilsy85, I can do my own everyday makeup, but a professional MUA has the tools and products that make it last all day. Also, I don’t normally wear fake eyelashes and my MUA put some on for me to make my eyes really “pop.” I don’t regret the money I spent on it at all… it made a huge difference, and my makeup in my photos looks amazing!
I think $225 is a great deal for everything it includes! 🙂

YES! So worth it and those prices are reasonable considering it’s on-site. It’s one thing to be able to do your own day-to-day makeup, which I’m sure we are all able to do. It is different to have makeup done that will be photographed. If you can afford it absolutely you should do it. So worth it.

That sounds like a good price, especially since it includes the trial. I’m not married yet but to me it’s worth paying for a professional to take away stress on the day, I know I’ll look good and I’ll enjoy being pampered on the day. I’ll also offer the makeup artist to my mum and best woman if they want to be professionally made up.

Is is air brushed make-up? I can’t imagine her just applying cost that much!

worth it. Mine was $100 for trail and $100 for day off and that was in New Hampshire. I wanted to look spatacular and I would not have been able to create the same look she did. I felt beautiful the whole day and didn’t worry once about my makeup.

It depends on how good you are at doing makeup and what products you are using. I would love to have aMUA do mine, but it’s really not worth the expense for me. I will be doing my own makeup because a) I’m pretty damn good at it and b) the $200 can go towards some beautiful nars or chanel makeup for the day that i can wear afterwards as well.
