    Hello fellow Chicagoans!

My fi is looking for a hotel for us to spend the wedding night....we're looking for something nice(4 or 5 star), but a little more affordable than The Drake(which is about $425).  I want to drop him some hints, but because I live to close to the city, I've never stayed in a hotel there...so my knowledge is limited!

Do you have any suggestions for a romantic stay in the heart of the city?  Our budget is about $300-350

How about the Park Hyatt or Peninsula?  I am not sure how much they are, but they are definitely nice!!

I've stayed at the Park Hyatt before...amazing!!  The Omni is nice as well.  If you're looking for contemporary (but a little on the small side), the W is nice.

I stayed at the Hotel Monaco and can't recommend it enough! The rooms have fabulous decor (perfect for any getting ready photos), and their conceirge politely fielded about 9000 requests from me and my 'maids. I got ready there and also stayed for our wedding night. Their doormen even sheilded my gown from a rainstorm with their giant umbrellas - they got SOAKED but smiled the entire time. Loved my stay there!

I've heard the Sofitel is lovely! I also second Quiche's Peninsula and Park Hyatt recommendations.

I've stayed in many hotel's downtown!

My favorite is the Sheraton. The beds are unbelievable!

My second favorite is the Hilton Palmer House in the loop. A. I love the loop, much less tourist-y then Michigan Ave. B. The rooms are modern and peacock themed! C. It's right across the street from Jersey Boys too! ( sooo recommend you see it if you haven't already!)

My third favorite is the Intercontential. It's very old and has a wonderfully historic pool! It's been a while since I've been there but I remember it being lovely!

My fourth fav is the Hilton on South Michigan Ave. very lovely but a little off the beaten path!

    Hope these help!

Hi LatteLove!  I just saw this great deal in Travel + Leisure for the James hotel (awesome hotel, BTW!):

It's called the Luxury Liberated package.  2 nights hotel in a King room, complimentary car service to a museum of your choice, a bottle of wine from David Burke's Primehouse (awesome restaurant, too!), and a 30 minute training session with a Jim Karas trainer.  It's only $210 per night for all of that!  2 night minimum.

    Hope this helps!

We stayed at the James recently- it was wonderful. They have great customer service and great attention to detail and will work to make your stay memorable- especially if you mention that you were just married! We also stayed at the Westin River North and it was lovely. Club level rooms are around $240 and you get access to the lounge and gym. I also LOVE the Trump, but prices are astronomical.

We had a Mediterranean Suite at Hotel Monaco on our wedding night.  It was an amazing, huge room and it's got a great view.  I'd highly reccomend!

Hotels should not be limiting packages right now. They are in dire straits with this economy. You should completely be able to negotiate a good rate - or extend the Luxury Liberated package. Just call them and ask. My FI works for a hedge fund and they've been looking at the whole hotel industry - awful. For our wedding in December, he is convinced that he can negotiate blocked room rates at like 110-130/room at fancy hotels - like the Dana or Westin, whatever.

I'm gonna definitely second the recommendation for Palmer House.  It was the most amazing hotel I've ever been to- the lobby is breathtaking!!!!!!  BUT the single king rooms are absolutely tiny.  This was not a problem for FI and I because we were there to see a show and crash, so it was beyond worth it just to sit in the lobby the next morning.  I've heard amazing reviews about their bigger rooms- the double bed rooms and suites.  However, the walls are very thin.

Another place I've been that's less romantic but amazing is the Hilton Suites (I think it's on Mag. Mile)...the room was HUGE!!!!!!  I bet they have some incredible honeymoon suites for reasonable prices...but I'm not sure.

    HAVE FUN!

    Hi LatteLove-

I'm not sure who you work for, but a lot of Hotels have corporate rates that you could request.  My company has a great rate at the Trump and Pennisula.  It would never hurt to ask.  Also, if you or your fiance are a member of any associations they may have a corporate rate as well.

When booking a suite for our wedding night, we soon realized that the Bar Association had an awesome rate at the Ritz that was much better then the quoted rate online.
