- Wedding: May 2011
So I rigged my schedule this semester so that I work 11 hours a day M-TH and have Friday off… but sadly, this nightmare woke me up at 7 am. So much for sleeping in
preface: we’re getting married at 10am on a pier. The church in my dream is my old church from childhood – 9 hrs. away
So I dreampt that it was the morning of our wedding, and I went to church with my mom in this red chiffon 2 piece dress from DB and my bellybutton was showing (you know those horrible crop top prom dresses from the 90’s?). Everyone at church knew I was getting married that day, so the pastor kept trying to intercept our flowers/vendors, etc and bring everything to the church b/c he wanted us to get married there (haven’t seen this pastor in over 10 yrs). He got huffy when I had to yell at him for changing my wedding plans, so I ran outside to take all the flowers back to the pier. At that time, it started raining flaming sulfur from the sky, which was black. I realized it was noon, I didn’t have my hair/makeup/dress or anything ready, and the wedding was supposed to start 2 hrs before. I ran back to the parking lot and realized that everyone had the same car, so I couldn’t find my mom’s car until she finally came out to unlock it, and then she drove really slow to the hair appointment and I was being a backseat driver. Then, as we were driving past the pier, I see my FI and suddenly there are THRONGS of people in formal wear running amok in the streets (women in wedding dresses, grooms in tuxes, and little girls in flowergirl dresses). He sees me hanging out the window trying to get his attention so he doesn’t think I stood him up, and I’m not even dressed/prepared. He decided to call it off since I wasn’t ready, the reception was supposed to start 2 hours before, so we’d already cut into our reception time, and it was still raining sulfur. Then I woke up.
I told my FI when he finally woke up and he just laughed at me. Sheesh – at least I can pinpoint the worries that are generating this dream: if it rains, we have to get married indoors, which means it was pointless to rent the pier and we wouldn’t need transportation since everyone is parking at our reception spot and the trolley we rented wouldn’t need to take them to the pier (so that’s at least $4k down the drain!) and I haven’t found someone to come out to the house to do our hair/makeup. We only have our reception spot from 11-4, so if the ceremony runs late, we don’t get that time back, and if it ends early, I don’t know what we’re going to do until then. I don’t really care about not getting married in a church, though -my FI’s pastor is marrying us, and he’s cool with it.
Crazy, huh? Any of you ladies have nightmares about your big day? Share em!
