Ok so the pastor I wanted to have marry us charges $500, do do the ceremony AND premarrital counseling (which is required), I feel like this is a lot, and I am torn on whether I should look for someone else or not!

Ours (non-denominational) is charging $300.00 for the rehearsal and wedding ceremony. No counseling.

We are having a non-denominational ceremony, and our officiant is $300 which includes the rehersal and ceremony.

Ours was 300 for the priest and then 1,000 for the church!

Before we found a friend to do ours, I found officiants for the range of approx 300-600, but I don’t think that included counseling, just day of. Sometimes extra for them to do your rehearsal.

We don’t belong to a church and are having a non-religious officiant doing our ceremony. For her ceremony and rehearsal services she charges $600. That is very competitive for our area, every officiant of the same caliber was the same price. Her premarital counseling is OPTIONAL and costs an extra $400. It really made Fiance mad…none of these people are hurting for business and they stack weddings when and where possible. They’re making a killing.

We got married in the Catholic church and paid 500 for everything (counseling, pre cana, use of the church and the priest for the rehearsal and the service). So sounds about right to me.

Ours was 500 also for the minister and church… so it is about right for pricing

I’m getting sticker shock from officiant pricing too. Definitely did not think they cost that much!

I was running into prices of $1000! I finally found someone who is a friend of the family and would do it for free (she is also our live music for the ceremony) so we plan to give her $300.

Counselling is expensive especially if they’re providing you with materials.
That does sound expensive, but maybe you can talk about it with him if you feel you can’t swing that.

the officiant generally can run from 200+, but only cover rehearsal and ceremony. I had a friend of ours to do it for free, so we only need to invite them to the wedding as guests.

Ours is 300 for a non-denominational ceremony.

Wow, I guess it’s cheap in Oregon! We are paying $150 for the rehearsal, ceremony, and at least 3 sessions of counseling, and that’s on the high side for this area (most are around $100). I guess it’s nice being in a smaller place!

We’re paying $600 for our officiants, and that includes the rehearsal.
