Have you thought about coming up to Tahoe?  You could probably have the ceremony at a public beach for super cheap, and a restaurant reception, which would save you a lot of money in rentals, decorations, etc…  There are also, of course, camping sites, along with traditional hotels, that could make it more affordable for your guests.  And Tahoe is about the same drive time you’ll have to the coast.

@onewhosinz:  Have you tried the Delta King in Old Sacramento?  I wasn’t sure if you have $1000 budgeted for the entire wedding or just for the venue but it looks like the ceremony is only $750.

Also, you may want to start calling around for information before setting a date.  FI & I tried to stay flexible on a date because we didn’t want to find a venue that we loved and then have it be unavailable for our date.  Most places were willing to give me pricing if I told them the season we wanted to be married, like Spring 2013..

Have you thought about Half Moon Bay?  Check out Sam’s Chowder House.  You can have the ceremony right there on the beach by the ocean/harbor and then have dinner at the restaurant (they have some event spaces to pick from).  Good luck!
